Auburn University student Gabe Puthoff was born with a disability called spinal bifida, a birth defect where an area of the spinal column doesn’t form properly — but that never stopped him from playing sports.
Both his parents and his older brother played sports, so Gabe wanted to get in on the action too.
Eventually, he got to Auburn where he played wheelchair tennis and wheelchair basketball, and last week, he represented Auburn in the wheelchair tennis national championship — taking down Alabama in the Final Four to get there.

Saturday was a special day for kicker Towns McGough, who grew up going to Auburn football games in a Nick Marshall jersey. Against Alabama A&M in the home opener, he got to wear his own jersey, and it was a “surreal” experience for the freshman.
