Dinner was a smattering of leftover side dishes tonight (corn, beans, watermelon, salad), with no "main course" available in the fridge.
12yo referred to the meal as a "bullpen game" and for the first time, I really believe I might be a good father.
Milwaukee resident Jennifer Taff requested an absentee ballot almost three weeks ago, never got it. She has a father dying from lung disease and then waited hours in line to vote at Washington High School. Photo from Patricia McKnight.

Fun Fact: Jack Gohlke was a senior on the Pewaukee High School team that handed Tyler Herro his final loss in high school. Now he's coming for Herro's college team, too.
Milwaukee has never won a championship (MLB and NBA, anyway) on its own soil. The 1957 Braves won Game 7 in Yankee Stadium. The 1971 Bucks finished a sweep in Baltimore. This ... has literally never happened in this town.

Last April, they won the 50/50 raffle at a #Brewers game. It was enough money to try another round of fertility treatment.
Their little boy was born in February, and he'll attend his first MLB game Monday.

Last time a team went down 3-2 in a best of 7 and won? All the way back to 2017 when the Astros returned home and won the ALCS over the Yankees. Keep the faith.
Steve Kornacki just nailed the rapid-fire pronunciations of Outagamie, Winnebago, Ozaukee and Waukesha. I know those are softballs for us, but I am so impressed.
Every fear that going to an arbitration hearing against Corbin Burnes could harm his relationship with the Brewers was founded.
“There’s no denying that the relationship is definitely hurt from what [transpired],” Burnes said.
The #Brewers are 3-12 in their last 15 games against the Cubs, Reds and Pirates, the teams that were supposed to help Milwaukee pad its record this season.
They have had a lead in all but one of those games.
Big Milwaukee birthdays today.
Christian Yelich turns 29.
Snow Lilly the polar bear -- oldest known in North American captivity -- at the Milwaukee County Zoo turns 37.
I wish them both well.
The Bulls beat the Wizards. With that, the #Bucks have clinched a playoff berth. Feb. 23 is the earliest a team has clinched a spot in NBA history, topping 2017 Warriors (Feb. 25).
The boy who got Giannis' shoes after yesterday's game? That's 17-year-old Hunter Peterson, a @NicoletKnights senior who is a member of the #Bucks Hoop Troop. Hunter's father, Craig, believes the @Bucks go above & beyond to embrace those with special needs

Took these pics today of #Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer during practice. By far the happiest photos I've ever taken of him. The whole team was pretty loose and giddy. Here's a bunch of pics - jsonline.com/picture-gallery…
Even this tired, still LOL'd this morning when I saw this from a Mishicot bar (first spotted on @BucksOnReddit with one brilliant response ... "There were no survivors")
A short Brandon Woodruff story. You may not find it all that unusual, I don’t know. Last summer, my 11yo was in a baseball camp in Brookfield. He’d done it a few times, just a week of stations and drills and such …
.292/.364/.459 11 homers
.287/.381/.459 11 homers
The top line is Christian Yelich in 2018 before the all-star break.
The bottom line is Christian Yelich this year.

Milwaukee's three aces are such an amazing development story. Freddy, acquired at age 18 in a lottery-ticket trade. Corbin Burnes, who was unplayable in 2019. Brandon Woodruff, an 11th round pick. You'd trust all three to start G1 of a playoff series. #Brewers
Braelon Allen of the @nyjets is the youngest NFL player to score a scrimmage touchdown since Arnie Herber in 1930 at the exact same age (20 years, 239 days).
Yasmani Grandal homered in his first start as a leadoff hitter and Josh Hader slammed the door in today's Brewers victory. #ThisIsMyCrew

Can we take a minute to acknowledge the genius of any promotion that is so ingrained in a community that it gets brought up every year -- but only has to pay out once (MAYBE TWICE?!) in a generation?
Good work, George Webb marketing team from the 80s
Brewers and Dodgers have an identical number of pitching changes in this series for those, like John Smoltz, who think the Brewers are going to set the NLCS record for pitchers used.
The #Brewers social/new media team was run by geniuses, and the team's fan experience will be MARKEDLY worse without it.
I'm not being hyperbolic, I think Caitlin and Aaron are geniuses. They set the bar for what's possible in pro-sports social content.
Your new #Brewers fan hero is Jay Ryan -- the DeForest man who orchestrated the giant 'L' flag at Tuesday night's game (with some help from a few Oconomowoc HS grads). Here's how he did it. jsonline.com/story/sports/ml…@brewers
Pat Murphy took the podium with his niece's son, Rory.
Murphy: Who's your favorite player?
Rory: Sal Frelick
M: Who'd you dress as for Halloween last year?
R: Sal Frelick
M: What's your dog's name?

We don't talk enough about how Milwaukee has a big-league baseball team with a top minor league team in Nashville and Nashville has a big-league hockey team with a top minor league team in Milwaukee. Kennedy/Lincoln situation.
Holy smokes, just saw for the first time the clip of Monty Williams speaking to Bucks players after last night's game about how they made him a better coach and made the Suns a better team.
What an incredible person.
It's ridiculous how much talent is packed into Brewers broadcasts. Obviously can't truly speak to what other markets have, but Milwaukee has it so, so good.
As of this morning, the standings tell us the #Brewers would have home-field advantage throughout the NL playoffs. Clearly posting for fun, don't @ me regarding the long stretch of postseason struggles, please. #TakeThatDodgersPayroll
I realize this isn’t completely novel. But it does fit with the impression I have of Woodruff over his years in Milwaukee. Just a genuinely kind soul. He also shoves as a pitcher. What a tremendous bummer to mark the possible end of his tenure here.
When I wear a mask, I think about the good it's doing for myself and my neighbors. It breaks my heart that in an unprecedented crisis, there are those who prioritize a perceived minor infringement on their liberty over a harmless act of communal compassion.
#Brewers were 24-25 at one point near end of May, shortly after acquiring Adames. Did anyone out there see them as 19 over .500 — high water mark thus far — by the trade deadline?
