I think I've figured out why the #Isles #NYR rivalry has calmed down over the years, and I'll thank Twitter for the insight & Twitter is mostly to blame. It just comes down to respect for the entire organization from the fans to the players. For years before Twitter we didn't hear much from other fan bases, we didn't get exposed to behaviors. Now we have, and it's brought a lot of NY Isles & Rangers fans together on a lot of hockey issues. NYers are always great fans, MSG/Coliseum/Belmont, you're going to have the loudest environments in the league. We are also the smartest fans, and we don't cry and act like we deserved anything we didn't achieve. Now I'm speaking in majorities, there's exceptions, usually the liberal fans on both sides ruin this for us, but we both know that. So as Rangers and Islanders fans see these horrible fan bases for the first time on Twitter over the past decade, it's not surprising that we gained more respect for one another. I used to root for the Rangers to lose every game. Of course I hate when they are better than the Isles, but man I have way more passion and emotion involved in Toronto/Carolina/Devil's losing because they are a bunch of pansies. From the team to the fans. Look below, we can all celebrate together again, as Toronto and it's whiney, miserable, entitled fan base cries because they have no goaltending or defense but they are upset with Marner! 😂 Let's all laugh together.

My uncle had season tickets in section 107 for 30 years until the #Isles moved to Barclays. We knew everyone around us, and the games were like a dysfunctional family event. We booed and cheered, mostly booed, caught towels from the flying blimps and rocket launchers and talked about how far we parked. There was never politics, there was never anything but hockey and how's your family. I met people who became future doctors I went to, bankers I used, policemen I have their PBA card. This society, and mostly these cell phones, has destroyed that. No one knows anyone's name, no one cares. Life was better when we talked to each other and realized this is a good person, why would politics cross your mind. Life was better when a person I saw 25-30 times a year had the kindness to sneak a sandwich in the arena with her famous grandmother's eggplant from her garden just because we both loved the same sports team and we had no food options that were decent in the coliseum. Life was definitely better when there was a common understanding of what was moral and what wasn't. You didn't need a lesson from the diversity police or your local politician. Life was better when we knew each other. Mental illness is only going to get worse as people alienate themselves with this technology.

I dislike the fact that I see people unfollow me after I give away tickets that they didn't win. I guess that's what happens, but I really hope I never accidentally give tickets to anyone like that. I do this to give back to the #Isles community, you could at least wait a day.

This picture of Ledecky celebrating like an actual fan is priceless. Not only do the #Isles have a new arena coming, the most famous GM in the NHL, last year's cup winning coach, but they also have an owner who looks like he won the Superbowl during game 18 of the regular SSN.

I'm 38, I've watched the #Isles for a good 30 years where I would say I have watched between 78-82 games a year. Over that time span I have went to over 400 Islander's games from Nassau to Brooklyn back to Nassau and now Belmont. Throughout these 30 years, I am having a hard time finding a team that didn't play hard, close to a 60 minute game. We just didn't have the talent most of those years to see success. Eventually success came and we have made the playoffs more times than not since 2014. However, since the 2nd year under Trotz, and maybe the death of the Coliseum being home, that Isles effort they were known for has mostly disappeared. An organization that I used to be proud to watch with way less talent has turned into a team that just has no heart but a bunch of talent. I used to watch other teams broadcasts because every time they would praise the Isles for how hard they worked. It took this organization a long time to regain it's fans from the 80s and early 90s, and I feel like we are close to losing the attention span of many fans. I lost interest in the Knicks and Mets as those sports IMO have gotten worse, but the game of hockey has improved, and I never thought I would be at this point with this team while the NHL is relatively thriving compared to other sports. I am aware of the decline in viewing the last year but we also were home more due to Covid and remote jobs etc. This season needs to have a purpose. This team, this current product will not produce anything outside of a miracle which I'm always rooting for. However miracles are usually preceded by glimpses or hope, and this team shows none of that. No come from behind wins, no big moments, it's just lacking everything. People on here know I'm pretty positive on this team at all times, and still am with the young players coming up and guys like George. However we have a bunch of 20+ goal scorers who can help a lot of playoff teams, and the Isles may have the most talent to unload from any non playoff roster imo. Between Nelson, Palmeri, Lee, Pelech, Pageau, Cizikas, Varly, etc. Load up on picks and prospects and get this started. Lou needs to go, I think he's done a great job but it's just time. I hope we see some massive changes as this team has no heart.

Duclair at 80% speed maybe 60% stamina, Barzal not fully there yet stamina wise, Pelech just a huge improvement over every replacement by a mile, Facshing playing like he did last year. Tysplakov is getting better and better. Good stuff in what feels like a blah season. Yes they need to win 3-5 games in a row to start getting people excited again, but at 5v5 they have no issues. I don't even care about the PP to be honest, I think fully healthy with Barzal feeding Horvat again and Lee getting back to the Lee we know it'll come around. But for fuck sake please change the PK system. I wish they would go to a full press PK, because at the end of the day, with their 5v5 stats, a top 5 PK would basically save the season.
