Hard to believe Awake is 10! It really feels like yesterday. It was recorded over a 10 month period between February and October of 2013 and was the first album that Zac, Rory and I recorded as a band.

I was hiking up to Mueller Hut today and got to see a couple Keas. Apparently they’re the smartest bird in the world and the only alpine parrot. Was pretty amazing seeing parrots hanging out in the snow at 6000ft. 🏔🦜

Every time I’m in Tokyo I try to make it to Akihabara to search for knobs. I like to customize my guitar pedals or just replace ones that have been lost to tour. This time I think I found the holy grail, so many good colors. They also had some really nice vintage project boxes 🎛

Hope 2023 is off to a good start for everyone. After 4 years it feels like this album is finally starting to turn the corner toward completion. Having the space to take my time with this one has been very grounding, I feel so fortunate to be able to work this way again.

Taking a vacation in Japan this week, first time I’ve been here just for fun in over a decade. Been staying in Hakone but heading to Tokyo tomorrow. Spent today at Hakone Open Air Museum, amazing stuff there. Highly recommended if you’re in the area 🇯🇵✌️
