Official Statement on the March General Meeting Disruption By Radical Leftist Activists.
HOUSTON [March 25th, 2025]: The Houston Young Republicans unequivocally condemn the radical protesters who targeted our event hosting Houston City Council Member Amy Peck. Their lunacy put the safety of our members and valued guest in peril, and out of an abundance of caution, we made the difficult decision to cancel our scheduled event.
The Houston Young Republicans value the free flow of ideas and discourse. It is a shame that when others aggressively descend on venues where such exchanges are happening, they demonstrate to the world they do not hold the same values that make our society thrive. Shouting obscenities and surrounding the vehicle of an elected official, thereby creating a hostile environment, has no place in Houston.
We explicitly reject antisemitism, aggression, and intimidation. The safety and security of our members, guests, and public officials are paramount. We sincerely appreciate the swift and professional response from the Houston Police Department who ensured the situation did not escalate further. We are relieved that Council Member Peck and all attendees are safe.
Make no mistake: this incident will not silence or deter us.
