This is such an unfortunate tweet by someone I otherwise have tremendous respect for. Many will now think it’s OK to publicly bully those around them. If the richest man in the world does it, it must be OK, right? Bill Gates can handle it. Others not so much. Really bad look.

There's actually a MAJOR PROBLEM with the new Twitter PFP feature. It appears to work for ANY NFT in your collection. Not just verified collections. That means someone can just right-click-save any NFT, mint it, and then use it as their PFP 😢 You were so close Twitter. Why 😭

Kind of amazing that a company worth billions with so many smart people behind it could fuck something up this royally. The amount of ETH that's being lit on fire right now is unprecedented. There was no thought put into this whatsoever.

a reminder that every chest will contain a Treasure, which will be meaningfully considered by the Foundation at TGE. this is in addition to any prizes one might receive from the rewards pool. also, as we’ve shared many times before, historical volume will be rewarded by the Foundation at TGE and is completely separate from our rewards programs. if you’re an OG and have used OpenSea for years, we see and appreciate you. and if you’re actively using our improved platform today, we also see and appreciate you. re: TGE, as I posted a few days ago, the Foundation will be sharing more details later this week. lastly, our team is working tirelessly to allow each of you open your Wave 1 chests. the entire rewards engineering staff was online past 1am last night preparing. still some work to do but we're close! 🤞

What’s that little ship next to my name? 😉 Excited to share that I’ve joined @opensea as Chief Marketing Officer. I’ve been working closely with Devin and the OS team for the last several weeks. The people, product, strategy & ethos have exceeded my wildest expectations. It's no secret that I’ve been critical of OpenSea over the years. There’s a lot of work to do. But I can feel the transformation that's already begun as the company becomes more communicative and transparent. And OS2 is a truly world class platform that delights customers - a marketer's dream product. My professional experience gives me the ability to do this job. The last four years of living in the web3 trenches with all of you gives me the deep cultural understanding to do it well. Exciting times ahead 🌊

What a wild couple of weeks since joining OpenSea. I wish you all could see inside the walls. The team is ridiculous. The energy and passion internally at OS is contagious. The speed at which things are being built and iterated on is beyond anything I’ve experienced in my career. It’s been a long time since I’ve felt this motivated and excited. I read the daily comments and Discord messages. First, I want to simply say thank you. Your candid feedback is important and appreciated. And I know you all have questions about the token, how the Foundation is looking at retro activity, our rewards approach and more. When I joined, I posted about the importance of communication and transparency. So in the interest of that, let me share a few things with you: OpenSea is evolving from an NFT marketplace to the best destination to discover, own and trade on-chain. OS2 is just the canvas. The masterpiece comes next—more chains, mobile, deeper features, and innovations that will redefine what you expect from us. Web3 doesn't need another rushed, ill-conceived token launch. The Foundation is obsessed with getting it right—from utility to distribution to timing. This will be a watershed moment not just for OpenSea but for web3 as a whole. $SEA is being designed thoughtfully with the long term in mind, not as a memecoin to be farmed and forgotten. I’ve confirmed with the Foundation that past history will of course be rewarded. This will happen at TGE and users will receive an allocation of $SEA. This is separate from XP in OpenSea’s rewards program, which is about incentivization to explore OS2 moving forward. If you’re a long-term user of OpenSea, we see you. Speaking to XP specifically, we’ve decided after talking deeply with the community that liquidity leaderboards will not be coming back. They drove substantial volume to OpenSea, but weren't creating healthy activity and we paused them swiftly. In their place, we've built a robust system that rewards natural engagement with OS2 over pure volume. • The new program is launching soon. • Wallet size won’t determine your opportunity. • We’re taking meaningful steps to ensure that real users are rewarded, not bots. • This rewards system will become foundational for what comes next. I genuinely believe that OpenSea has the best team, product, and opportunity in crypto. I’m privileged to be able to play a small role in its success. Sails up 🌊

I've known from the very beginning of my NFT journey that one day I'd own a Punk. I messaged the owner of #4888 over a year ago. It's the single Punk in the 10,000 collection that looks most like me IRL. But he was the original minter and wasn't willing to sell. So I essentially gave up on it. Then last week he pinged me out of the blue and said he was willing to let him go. I couldn't believe it. I'm beyond psyched to join the club with my perfect Punk. Trying on the PFP for a bit 😉

Roughly 12 years ago I went out to play golf and was paired up with someone very unique. He didn't wear a shirt. Had an unleashed dog. Was barefoot. And was carrying a very old bag of clubs. He proceeded to play lights-out golf; scratch or better. After a few holes I asked him what he did for a living. He told me he played 18-36 holes of golf 7 days/week. He'd decided years ago that playing golf was all he needed to be happy. So he quit his job, rented a cheap one bedroom apartment, and tutored math to make enough money to pay his expenses. All to allow him to play golf all day, everyday. At the time I was making more money professionally than anyone I knew. I drove a nice car. Owned a downtown condo with an amazing view. But I was working 60 hours/week, on planes 2-4 days/week, and was lucky to get out on the course once a month. Meeting this man made me reflect on what real happiness and fulfillment truly was. It's stuck with me for over a decade. On the surface, at the time, most would have considered me the more successful one in comparison. But was I really? Money is nothing if you can't use it to spend more time doing the things you love. And in some cases, you don't need nearly as much as you might think to accomplish that.

another crazy week at opensea. team’s really been shipping — p&l, visual portfolios, chart zooming, purchase annotations, and early mobile alpha testers onboarded! plus we did over $250M in token trading volume (completely separate from NFTs) yesterday alone, which is now driving hundreds of thousands of dollars daily into our rewards pool 💪 appreciate everyone who's been sending feedback. keep it coming. quick rewards timing update. on Oct 15 your wave 1 rewards progress will lock and treasure chests will be prepared for opening. it will take our team a few days to ensure the prize pool is distributed fairly and accurately. our goal is to allow you to open your chests and claim what's inside by Oct 17. 100% of the current $9 million (and growing) rewards pool will be distributed in your wave 1 treasure chests! once progress is locked on Oct 15, you'll see your final wave 1 chest in a "pending open" state. you'll also receive a new Starter Treasure Chest for wave 2, which will run from Oct 15 - Nov 15. 50% of our platform fees will continue to fund a brand new wave 2 rewards pool of tokens and NFTs. for any collections where we've purchased 11 or more NFTs in wave 1, OpenSea will be placing WETH offer liquidity behind them before distribution. any NFTs acquired via accepted offers will be placed into the wave 2 rewards pool. lastly, the Foundation will be providing their aforementioned update re: TGE late next week. onward and upward 🌊

So I hear "1 ETH = 1 ETH" a lot in this space. But I've generally observed that whenever ETH rises, floor prices decline. Which indicates that people still care about the USD value of their #NFTs. I like the concept, but I don't think we're there yet. What are your thoughts?

I’ve seen a lot of feedback over the last few weeks on our rewards program. I read it all and appreciate it. Please, keep it coming. I’ve always promised to be as communicative and transparent as I can be with y’all - so thought I’d take a minute to comment on a few things. First, let’s talk for a moment about fees. OpenSea has a 1% platform fee for NFTs and a 0.85% fee for token trading. Magic Eden charges 2% fees for NFTs. Photon collects 1% on token trading, MetaMask charges 0.875% for swaps, Phantom 0.85% for swaps, Axiom’s fees start at 0.95%. Our fees are very competitive. On top of this, OpenSea has committed 50% of these fees to regularly provide community rewards back to users. We’ve generated almost $4 million in the last few weeks alone which has been used to purchase NFTs and tokens, broadly celebrated by the community. Everyone who participates in this rewards phase also receives a Treasure each season which will be meaningfully considered by the Foundation at TGE. So respectfully, I wanted to directly address the narrative that “OpenSea raised fees just to farm users,” which simply doesn’t hold up. We designed a program that we believe is genuinely fun and rewarding for those who participate. So let’s talk more about that design. This phase currently treats token and NFT trading equally; $1 spent on NFTs generates the same chest progress as $1 trading tokens. With tens of thousands of tokens to trade and comparatively lower fees, our structure avoids many of the pitfalls of past incentive programs that focused exclusively on NFTs. More than half our volume now comes from token trading! All of that said, your feedback on only rewarding volume vs. collectors is well taken. Candidly, this is something that Shipments are good at addressing. For technical reasons, they’ve been slightly delayed, but are coming back soon. I also know that you want to see more varied and interesting Voyages - which is also being actively worked on by our team. I appreciate that y’all are so passionate about this. I wake up every single day alongside others at OpenSea thinking about how to best support our community and move the space that we all love forward. It’s why we’re working so hard to build an amazing product at scale that can truly be your web3 home across all wallets, chains, asset types and platforms. Thanks for listening and being on this journey with us.

A note on the Voyages bans that we processed over the last few days. This week OpenSea restricted more than 130,000 unique wallets from our rewards program. Our team has said from launch that Voyages are designed to be completed on a single set of connected (EVM/SOL/AGW) wallets. We've provided many reminders of this, including a notification during onboarding & a large banner that appeared at the top of our program for weeks. Our goal has always been to reward real users; not bots/sybil or those trying to abuse the system. We've had a number of people publicly post or reach out saying something along the lines of "I have no idea why this happened." Three of these reached out to me personally and I looked into their accounts. One had 108 wallets. Another had 28 wallets. Another had 282 wallets. I get it; no one likes to get caught or punished. But it's important to note that just because someone is publicly complaining doesn't mean they're innocent. All of this is being done to protect our real users; to ensure that the value we deliver isn't diluted by people trying to take advantage of the spirit of Voyages - which is about exploration and discovery ⛵️

OK it's obvious from the comments that most people don't understand the significance of what's happening tonight. So let me give you a TLDR. In about 5 hours, essentially for the first time, people will be able to create memecoins on Bitcoin. There will be hundreds of tickers created. Thousands. When someone creates a new coin, they can either keep all or part of the supply to distribute later or they can make it actively claimable on the network. The pre-runes that you've been buying as Ordinals will be the former. Creators will airdrop the Runes to holders. But many Runes created tonight will be new and the latter. Imagine hundreds or thousands of free-to-claim (except for network fees) memecoins going live on Bitcoin at the same time. All first-come-first-serve. That's what's happening in a few hours. To mint new Runes while supply is available, you need UTXOs. Think of a UTXO like a small bag of change in your pocket. The more bags of change you have, the more Runes you can mint at a time. So if you have 1 BTC in your wallet, instead of having one big bag with 1 BTC in it, you'd prefer to have 40 little bags with 0.025 BTC as an example. To do this, you have to split your UTXOs and can do this with tools like Luminex. There are several ways people will be minting Runes tonight. But if you just have an XVerse wallet with your UTXOs already split, you're ahead of 99% of degens. Most of the Runes created tonight, like all memecoins, will go to zero with haste. It's all gambling. But tonight is the first time the casino opens on Bitcoin, the motherchain. So who knows what's going to happen. But I'm anticipating absolute mayhem. Should be noted that the first Runes tonight will all have a minimum of 13 characters in their name. So you're not going to find PEPE or DOGE this evening. In a few months, the requirement will be reduced by one character, and then again months later. So we'll eventually see these tickers but not for a long time. Hope that helps. Be careful. Have fun.

My initial reaction: I fucking hate this. Great for Moonbirds holders who wanted an exit. Nothing wrong with them celebrating it. But Moonbirds has been one of the worst run projects in the history of NFTs. They made close to $100m and didn't follow through on their promises. They were supposed to build a metaverse world and then canceled it. They guaranteed IP rights to holders and then stripped them away without asking. It was an absolute mess - Kevin doesn't deserve to be rewarded publicly like this for it. And now he gets to be an advisor to Yuga? When Yuga is already under fire for not listening to it's own community constantly? I'm going to go calm down. But my initial reaction is fucking sell everything. And Yuga needs a new CEO.
Yuga Labs has acquired @PROOF_XYZ, which includes PROOF Collective, @Moonbirds, Mythics, @oddities_xyz, and @Grails exhibition series. For more information, see the official Yuga News blog: news.yuga.com/yuga-labs-acqu…

A few days ago I noticed that an artist I'd been following for months had a collection that was sitting stagnant. Several days with 1 out of 151 minted, to the point where they even lowered the price, but without any traction. This artist spent months drawing these by hand. And I actually really liked the collection. I bought 5 of them and tweeted about it purely because I wanted to support them. People slowly started minting, and after about 30 minutes the other 145 pieces had sold for 0.019 ETH each. The artist finally got validation for his hard work. Shortly afterwards, a few notable folks started posting about it. @notsoeasymoney shared that he really wanted to find a particular one - which coincidentally, I'd minted. So I sent it to him for free. A bit later @pranksy noticed it and subsequently bought 15 of the 151, purely because of the love of the art. This was a huge W for digital art and NFTs in my view. And I spoke with the artist, they were ecstatic. To be clear: None of this had any connection to my role at OS. There was no promotion, the collection was not featured. People can say what they want. But to be clear: I've showed up here everyday for 4 years operating with integrity, transparency and a genuine love for the space. Some days are just harder I guess. But will keep supporting artists and builders regardless.

Getting real for a minute. Sometimes this space makes me angry. I worked for months with my little girl to create her project. It was something special we did together and I've never marketed it as anything other than a 7 year old's taco art. Yet just because it didn't sell out immediately, I start getting DMs and messages with people upset that they can't immediately flip their $30 into $50? People telling me I "have to" cut the supply. That I should sweep the floor. That I should pay for marketing. Respectfully: FUCK OFF. I've spent 3 years being a good actor in this space. I voluntarily share my trades and views, have never once dumped on followers, have overdelivered everything I ever promised re: my own projects. This was a 7 year old's taco art. And on the mint page it literally said "I agree I'm buying a 7 year old's taco art with no expectation of utility or otherwise." On top of all that, it was priced at $30. And that's with me personally prepaying almost $20,000 of inscription costs upfront. If you bought one of these with the intention of immediately flipping it, that's totally fine! Respect. I do that all the time. But fucking hell, take responsibility for your own gambling. I don't owe you a goddamn thing and neither does my daughter. And to those saying "this whole project was a cash grab" you can go suck a rope. My daughter worked harder on these tacos than 95% of the "artists" in this space. And she has every right to try to earn here alongside anyone else. I'm a little sad that the mint stalled out. I will cut supply because that's the right thing to do. I'd love to see the art flourish because I think it's awesome and am super proud of my daughter for creating it. Regardless, I'll always remember the people who supported me and my family today. Thank you, truly. Most of the feedback has been genuinely positive and awesome - which has been heartwarming. OK /rantoff, thanks for listening lol

treasure chests are now open. reading some of the early reactions, I want to level-set on how Wave 1 was designed. - half of our fees went straight into the rewards pool. - roughly a fifth of that pool funded our grand prizes. the rest was spread across thousands of everyday chests. this program was built for real users who want to make OpenSea their one-stop shop for onchain trading. if you came in expecting an immediate positive ROI on trading fees, the math was never going to support that for most participants — especially with last week’s market chop. we also provided Treasures inside these chests, which as we’ve shared will be meaningfully considered by the Foundation at TGE. our rewards program will continue with Wave 2. i appreciate all the feedback, we are listening. thanks for being on this journey with us.

I'm honestly just sad right now. Put aside all of the business reasons why this acquisition might or might not make sense. Yuga acquiring Moonbirds and bringing Kevin on as an advisor is essentially putting a stamp of approval on what they did as a project. That's the most offensive and tone deaf thing I could have imagined Yuga doing in this moment. Yuga is a leader in the space. I believe they should be condemning the types of decisions Moonbirds made over the last two years. Not rewarding them. I've been critical of many of Yuga's decisions - but that criticism always came from a place of genuine love and admiration for the club. It was because I wanted them to be successful. I wanted to help. This is the first time it's felt different. Because this feels like a betrayal of values. Going to take some real time to reflect, but not sure there's any coming back from this one for me.

I just sold my 233 ENS for 1.28 ETH; a $6k dividend for a domain I bought a month ago 🤯 So why sell? Because I asked myself "Would I spend $6k on 233 ENS right now?" The answer was no. Each day you hold a liquid asset, you're essentially making a decision to repurchase it.

I keep a spreadsheet of every NFL bet I've ever made. Over 9 years I've placed bets on 297 unique games. Total bets are $160,255 with an average bet of $558.38. On a W/L ratio I'm up 15 games. On a total basis, I'm up $4.36. Yes, 9 years, 297 bets, and I've made $4 😂

$SEA is not being created to be launched and forgotten. Sails up.
OpenSea crossed $2.6B in trading volume this month, with over 90% from token trading. This is just the beginning of our transformation, from “NFT marketplace” to “trade everything.” NFTs were chapter one for us. In 2021, OpenSea brought the first wave of everyday internet users onchain. Collectors, artists, gamers, musicians — people who had never opened a wallet — showed up on OpenSea and suddenly owned digital property. The sequel is the destination for the onchain economy in its entirety. Trade everything. Tokens, culture, art, ideas, the digital and the physical. And all in one place that feels like a home, not a bank. Building that product is in our DNA. You shouldn’t have to use a CEX and give up custody of your assets. But you also shouldn't need to navigate a maze of chains, bridges, wallets, and protocols in order to use onchain liquidity, wondering whether your balance is on Solana, an Ethereum L2, or somewhere else. You should just be able to trade everything in one place, seamlessly. And that brings me to $SEA, from the OpenSea Foundation. Integrating $SEA into OpenSea will be the opportunity to show the world our vision. It will shine a spotlight on everything we’re building. So we need to make damn sure that what we’ve built deserves that spotlight — not just for us, but for every holder who believes in what crypto can become. $SEA is not being created to be launched and forgotten. Today, the Foundation and OpenSea are jointly announcing a few updates: - Timing. $SEA is coming in Q1 2026. - Distribution. The Foundation has confirmed that 50% of supply will be allocated to the community, with more than half awarded via an initial claim. Both OGs and those who participated in OpenSea rewards programs will be meaningfully considered, separately. - Tokenomics. 50% of revenue at launch will be used to purchase $SEA. - Utility. $SEA will be deeply integrated with OpenSea, including the ability to stake $SEA behind your favorite tokens and collections. $SEA isn't the destination, but it's a crucial moment everyone will be watching. You only get one TGE. While the Foundation is wrapping up the final details, we’re getting OpenSea ready. Between now and Q1, we're shipping the features that bring our vision to life. Mobile is now in closed alpha, and will put the entire onchain economy in your pocket. Perps will be coming to OpenSea. True cross-chain abstraction on its way. I’ll be hopping on an X space at 4pm ET to talk about our vision. The best way to predict the future is to build it together. Sails up.

I wasn’t allowed to share this until now. But I was honored to recently be invited onto the Yuga Gaming Council & given early access to test (and provide feedback on) the new release of Dookey Dash. Yuga has put a lot into this one. They took what was already a fun, addicting game & have expanded it significantly to include ongoing tournaments/prizes, a marketplace for 3D models, true multi-platform support and more. It’s also open for everyone - not just Yuga holders. Though NFT holders do of course receive some benefits! 🍌 Should be a lot of fun and I’ve been impressed with Yuga’s genuine desire for feedback and improvement. See you in the sewers! 🧪

I don’t know who needs to hear this. But you’re not “investing” in meme coins. You’re gambling. And ALL of them will eventually go to zero. Could be in an hour, a year or longer. But it’ll happen at some point. Stop telling people the next big thing is here. This isn’t it.

So I've been essentially wearing the exact same short sleeve polo shirt for the last 6+ years, basically everyday. I just buy 8-10 of them in different colors each year, they wear out, rinse/repeat. Found out last week that Johnson & Murphy is discontinuing the shirt. Most people would just say "damn" and find something else to wear. Not me. I bought 58 of them in my size and I'm good for the next 8 years 😅

Here’s the hard truth that most NFT founders have to eventually learn. You think you’re selling a product and people are buying it because they love what you’re doing and want to own one. But 99% are really just speculating/gambling and have no interest in what you’re actually building. They care only about price. The reality is you can never appease that group. Even if you make the price go up, they sell and now there’s a brand new person with even higher expectations. The cycle never ends and you can’t make a floor price rise perpetually. So instead focus on overdelivering across everything you promised, delighting those who bought because they wanted what you were building. Do what you said you would and tune out all the noise. If you do this, it gets easier over time. Your communities eventually reshape into those who actually are rooting for you and love what you’re doing vs. those that think they own you because they bought an NFT.

NFTs are a technology; not a product. It's the ability to provide someone ownership of a digital asset on a public blockchain. Which means it could be leveraged by ANY game instead of confined to just one. E.g. If a CSGO skin was an NFT, and you stopped playing CSGO, another game could leverage that item and provide utility for it. Your CSGO skins ARE digital assets. They're just stored centrally on the game's servers. In a database with your name. Instead of in a public, tradeable way. Getting mad at NFTs is like getting mad at Amazon Web Services because one company used it in a way you didn't approve of. Gamers being upset at NFTs makes no sense. Because the reality is it would open up an entire world of interoperability between games if the technology was adopted.

Nothing against Moonbirds. Wish the project and its holders nothing but luck and success. But the price is essentially the same as MAYC? One is entry into the most successful NFT project in history with a multi-billion dollar company & track record behind it. The other isn't.

I've had some bad experiences with insurance before. But @Aetna is the absolute worst provider I've ever had in 40 years. I'm honestly in disbelief at the level of stupidity and frustration I've had to endure. I had a car accident months ago and hurt my hand. To the point where I couldn't even open a doorknob or hold a bottle of water. I went to the doctor and had x-rays taken. They told me there was nothing wrong with my bones, but it could be a muscle or tendon issue. And that I'd have to wait another 3 weeks to see if I was still in pain before they could justify sending me for an MRI. I waited the 3 weeks, in pain. At that point went back to the doctor where they concluded I needed the MRI. I scheduled it for two weeks out. But the day before the MRI, Aetna declined to pay for it, saying it wasn't medically necessary. I postponed the MRI for a week while I tried to work through their channels. But I soon realized it was going to take too long. And I was in pain, not wanting to continue waiting. So I paid for it out of pocket assuming I'd get reimbursed later. My doctor appealed the decision directly with Aetna, telling them it was absolutely medically necessary for me to receive the MRI and providing all of the details as to why that was the case. And yet I receive this letter in the mail today, saying they concluded, without any explanation as to why, that it wasn't. Because it's in their best interest, saving them money. And assuming I won't continue to fight it. I will change insurance providers on January 1. I will make it my life's mission to make sure no one I know uses this abusive, fraudulent, absurdly frustrating company ever again. And just for fun, I'm probably going to sue them.

Apes on deck. The Yacht Club is sailing home. In the early days, OpenSea and Yuga Labs helped define what digital ownership could mean for communities and collectors. Today, that shared vision brings us back together as the exclusive marketplace partner for BAYC, Otherside, and Yuga's other collections. But that’s not all.
