ALT As AI spreads, we're entering a world increasingly filled with scammers who exploit it. Recently, I saw a drawing and thought, “Didn’t I draw this?” only to find it was AI-generated. I usually add subtle, personal details to make my work unique, but this piece even mimicked details like how I draw eyelashes, making it almost indistinguishable. If it were based on recent work, I'd recognize, “No, this isn't mine.” But with older art, I might not know. The more AI advances, the more this will happen. Art reflects its times, and manga is no exception. Seeing this world of con artists in manga may mean we're headed toward a future where such evils impact the medium. Copyright infringement by AI is also a villain for us. As AI-generated fakes become accepted, it's beyond any artist's power to fight. Laws may help, but we could also see ones that favor these scammers. I trust Shueisha with my copyright, but some artists are lax, leading to unauthorized use or leaks of their work.
