The Nuggets drafted the best duo in the NBA and one of the best duos of all-time. They did it all from scratch. They were patient and built this team the right way. They trusted the vision.
They could have fired Michael Malone when they missed the playoffs three-straight seasons at the start of the Jokic Era. Most teams would have. They could have sold their soul and the core of their team for the next superstar who wanted out. They didn’t.
Culture and chemistry still mean something. They still matter. You saw that when the Nuggets swept the Lakers. You saw that when they took care of the Suns. Those teams will never have what the Nuggets have.
This means more. This is an NBA Championship that was won the hard way. So many people, even locally, said it couldn’t be done. Denver was foolish for trying to win this way, they said.
They were wrong. The Nuggets were so right.
