One thing we did before our ProductHunt launch was switch all of our emails to @loops
It's been a wonderful experience and we're lucky to build at a time when we have such tools at our disposal.
Shout out to the team and don't forget, we're live today: producthunt.com/posts/hardco…
We want to make book tracking as easy as possible. That's why we put a lot of thought into what we call the 'book button'.
How have you found using it?
Here's Jules posing as an author!
As we're gathering more and more data on our little book app, some authors end up without a portrait.
All authors will get their image soon, but until then give it up for Jules filling in for them #AuthorsOfTwitter
Taking on Goodreads and Amazon isn’t something we take lightly. Here are some of the reasons why we believe it’s important.

Ever notice how every book on GR has a score between 3.8 and 4.2⭐️? What should that tell you about a book?
Instead, we're working on a useful score, just for you, for every book out there.

Sunday book recommendation!! Just starting this one, but it has excellent reviews. Looking forward to learning more about how to pursue digital minimalism and tune out the clutter of the internet these days. Anyone else read this and have thoughts?
Weekly team meeting today. We've got some cool stuff in the works for badges for users, created by the talented @sterespect!
We're also looking for some more folks to export their Goodreads lists to help us build our database! Reply or DM if you need an invite code.

What we're facing:
Amazon owning more & more of the book industry.
What can we do:
✨ Support independent authors (exciting)
📚 Rediscover bookshops (romantic)
🚂 Move to indie books apps (adventurous)
If you're doing any of those, congrats 👏
Did you know you can add a book to Hardcover?
We're one of the few new book apps building our own book database.
There are already hundreds of thousands 📚 in there, but if there's something you can't find help Jules out and add it yourself at hardcover.app/books/new
If you're curious about machine learning and AI watch "Coded Bias".
One story was of Amazon using machine learning/AI to screen job candidates. The result? It turned down anyone with the word "woman" on their resume. 😠
Those devs could've just improved book recommendations.
Happy New Year from Jules & the team!
@adamfortuna started what became Hardcover in April '21 with a tweet 🤯
8 months later, we're building something exciting.
Let's see where this year takes us! Stick with us in '22 and get ready for lots of surprises!
Important milestone:
Our dragon now has a name.
Our Discord community chose from some very good suggestions and we're proud to announce they're now named:
Pendragon 🐉
When we set out to build Hardcover, we started by thinking 'what's kind of reader are we talking to?'
As time went by, we realized that what we're building is for ALL the readers.
One of my absolute favorites things is for startups to share their journey as they're building. I've learned so much by following others' journeys, and want to share ours as well.
🎉 Today we've launched our blog to do just that! Check it out 👉

💡 Hardcover stats show your influence on others readers. When somebody discovers a book from an action of yours — like a review, list, or in the activity feed — we track that they found that book because of you.

This is a great book because the main character is funny and quirky and very unexpected, but it’s also a really beautiful story about her growth and healing. So it’s entertaining and inspiring all at the same time!
We're getting more books onto hardcover.app each day!(thank you ❤️ folks for importing your books from Goodreads)
Some end up without a cover - but we don't leave any book behind, they all get one of the 5 custom ones we made. Isn't that something?
