Wenn es darum geht, Stimmen für Frieden und Freiheit zu silencen, machen diese und weitere autoritäre Regime längst nicht mehr an ihren Grenzen Halt.
Sie drangsalieren Menschen auch hier in Europa.
JournalistInnen. AktivistInnen. DissidentInnen. Ganze Diaspora-Gemeinschaften.
Sie bedrohen sie. Sie überwachen sie. Sie versuchen, sie zum Schweigen zu bringen. Auch in Deutschland.
Für diese Form der Gewalt gibt es einen Namen: Transnationale Repression.
Diese kriegen wir auch in unserer Arbeit mit unserer Menschenrechtsorganisation @HawarHelp zu spüren: Unsere MitarbeiterInnen, die sich für die Freiheit in Iran einsetzen, wurden und werden ausgespäht. Auch Menschen, denen wir ein humanitäres Visum für Deutschland vermitteln konnten, weil sie in #Iran nicht mehr sicher waren.
Das EU-Parlament hat diese Woche einem umfangreichen Maßnahmenkatalog gegen transnationale Repression zugestimmt. Für diesen Vorstoß bin ich vor allem der EU-Abgeordneten @HNeumannMEP überaus dankbar, die den Vorstoß erarbeitet hat.
Unsere Botschaft ist klar: In der EU ist kein Platz für autoritäre Einschüchterung.
Wir brauchen besseren Schutz für Betroffene.
Wir brauchen eine stärkere Zusammenarbeit in Europa.
Und wir brauchen echte Konsequenzen für die Täter.
Wer Schutz in #Europa sucht, muss ihn auch finden.
Despoten wollen Menschen wie uns einschüchtern: Ihr seid nirgendwo sicher. Unsere gemeinsame Antwort muss lauten: Ihr seid hier und jetzt sicher.
