Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Minister for Defence, Deputy Leader of @FineGael, Meath East TD.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Martin Naughton’s passing last night. He was one of Ireland’s greatest philanthropists whose reach stretched far beyond Co. Meath, Glen Dimplex and the thousands of jobs he created over many decades.

Through the Naughton Foundation he and his wife Carmel supported countless students to progress in the field of STEM and through their many connections in culture, sport and education they helped to strengthen relationships between Ireland and the wider world.

Looking forward to working together with @dubravkasuica during our Presidency! Her portfolio plays a key role in strengthening partnerships with our neighbouring regions, promoting stability, and supporting economic cooperation. 🇮🇪🇪🇺
Glad to be in Cork 🇮🇪 for the start of @Ireland2026eu. Your motto, “Strength in Unity,” perfectly reflects the approach we are taking with the #PactfortheMediterranean. I look forward to working with @HMcEntee and the Presidency over the coming months.

Irish leadership brings people together. You help find common ground. And get things done. When Europe has faced moments of change, Ireland has so often helped chart the course. Including through your successful EU Presidencies. link.europa.eu/xBHyHw

We deeply appreciate Ireland's unwavering solidarity, dear @HMcEntee. As Russia continues attacking civilians night after night, the unity and collective response of our partners become one of Ukraine's greatest strengths. Together, we will ensure that terror never triumphs over freedom.
Deeply saddened by the devastating overnight attacks on Kyiv and the tragic loss of innocent lives. Russia's brutal and illegal war of aggression continues to inflict unimaginable suffering on the Ukrainian people.

Thank you to the @defenceforces for proudly representing Ireland at the official opening of our EU Council Presidency. 🇮🇪🇪🇺
Yesterday, the Irish Defence Forces proudly supported the official opening ceremony of Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union at Dublin Castle. The ceremony marked the beginning of Ireland’s eighth Presidency of the Council of the European Union and brought together national and European leaders, including An Taoiseach, President of the European Council António Costa and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. We are proud to support an event that reflects Ireland’s commitment to cooperation, partnership and shared European values. #EUCouncilPresidency #ÓglaighnahÉireann

Yesterday, as Ireland began its Presidency of the Council of the EU, I had the honour of meeting President Zelenskyy and reaffirming Ireland's unwavering support for Ukraine. Today is another stark reminder of why that commitment remains as important as ever. 🇮🇪🇺🇦

Too many women experience pregnancy loss, and too often that loss goes unacknowledged. That's why the Minister for Enterprise, Peter Burke, is bringing proposals to Cabinet to introduce statutory paid pregnancy loss leave in Ireland for the first time.

My colleague, Foreign Minister Constantinos, gave me some very good advice a number of months ago: "Work hard on the issues within your control, but always be prepared for the unexpected."

The next six months will bring challenges, but, more importantly, they will bring huge opportunities for the people of this country and beyond. I am determined to seize those opportunities.
