I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Steve Wright. He was a one off, a superb broadcaster who loved the radio as much as the radio loved him.
As far back as the early 70’s Steve has always been a great supporter of my music and every interview I did with him, even the chats we had when we just met in the street was me catching up with a friend.
Rest in peace Steve

He along with Hal David were and still are a huge influence on my songwriting career. Not a week goes by without me putting on a Bacharach collections CD. Timeless melodies never to be forgotten.

46 years later and I'm still in the studio and still writing songs, with my 21st studio album set for release in 2024.

Very sad to hear of the passing of Rick Davies. He was the one true friend I had growing up in the mid to late 60's in Swindon and early 70's in London. A brilliant musician who taught me blues piano. Pictured is Rick and I in our band, “Rick’s Blues” - far before the days of Supertramp and Gilbert O’Sullivan! While I was the drummer in Rick's Blues, Rick was a far better one.
I'll now cherish even more the recordings we made of 2 of my songs, in particular the one we sang together in harmony, 'Not This Time But Maybe The Next'.
My thoughts go out at this very sad time to Rick's wife Sue and all who knew him.

52 years ago today, my album “Back to Front” hit # 1 in the UK album charts, where it continued to chart for 64 weeks!
We still play many of these songs live today, and I’m proud that after all this time, these tracks still mean so much to many of my listeners.

To be awarded the Freedom of Waterford City was a very special honor, but what made it even more special was the wonderful event itself and hearing the kind words spoken about me by the Mayor and various assembly members, all whilst being surrounded by those I love the most.
Thank-you to everyone who attended and to all those behind the scenes that made this night unforgettable.

One of the few songs written about a real person, my managers daughter who I would occasionally babysit for. The song was a tribute to her parents and with her laughing at the end it will always be very special to me and to the family

So very sorry to hear of the passing of Herbie Flowers. Apart from being a formidable musician / writer, his ability in coming up with bass lines, one no finer than that of Lou Reed’s “Walk on the Wild Side”, marked him out as someone special.
For me, on “Nothing Rhymed”, nobody told him to do what he did on the opening, he just did it! And it was and always will be, perfect.
Rest in peace Herbie. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family.
