New York City
The Governor's announcement today is not an approval of NYC's plan. NYC school leaders do not yet have enough info & guidance to reopen their buildings. We have asked and have yet to receive answers to many questions that we believe are critical for the safe reopening of schools.

CSA strongly urges the city to close our schools. No one knows how vital public schools are more than those who lead them. But nothing is more important than the health, safety & well-being of our communities. We hope the city will hear the collective voice of NYC educators.

We understand the obvious need to cut budgets. But there is no reason cuts should impact schools directly. A small portion of the overall education budget goes directly to schools. Savings should be found elsewhere & cuts to Fair Student Funding should be avoided at all costs.
