🎉Congratulations to Captain Jeff Skiles, former vice-chair of the EAA Young Eagle program, former vice president of EAA Chapters and Youth Organizations, EAA Lifetime member, and first officer of the “Miracle on the Hudson” flight, aboard U.S. Airways 1549 in 2009. He retired on Sunday, November 17, after making one final flight for @AmericanAir from London to Chicago.
Up next, he tells us he has plans to fly charter for Wisconsin Aviation.

EAA is saddened about the death of Gemini and Apollo astronaut Jim Lovell. He made frequent visits to Oshkosh over the past 30 years and was a real friend to the organization.
CEO Jack Pelton had this to say:
“Jim Lovell was a hero to many of us as we followed the exploits of America’s space programs in the 1960s and ‘70s, and became known to new generations through the movie Apollo 13."
"We at EAA had a close connection to him for decades, as he first met EAA founder Paul Poberezny in their mutual hometown of Milwaukee. We express our condolences to Jim’s family and many friends, and say, Godspeed and thank you.”

The XB-1 demonstrator is the world’s first independently developed supersonic jet. Its development paves the way for Boom’s supersonic airliner, Overture.

On Jan. 28, 2025, at 8:45 a.m. CST, Chief Test Pilot Tristan “Geppetto” Brandenburg will break the sound barrier in #XB1 – going Mach 1.1 – at 34,000 ft. in the Bell X-1 Supersonic Corridor and the Black Mountain Supersonic Corridor in Mojave, California. The flight is estimated to last 30-45 minutes.
