Staph aureus bacteremia? Don’t forget to consult your ID doc! Early ID consult is associated with decreased relapse rates and decreased mortality, among other benefits 🤗 #staphaureus#bacteremia#idtwitter#MedTwitter#visualmed

Avengers as pressors, part 4/7 (the real part 4 😅): Vasopressin as “Bucky Barnes,” aka the Winter Soldier, aka Cap’s iconic sidekick. Typically 2nd line in septic shock, used as an adjunct to norepinephrine.

Avengers as pressors, part 6/7: Milrinone is Loki, the antihero who plays with people’s hearts. Helpful more often than not, but might also stab you in the back 🤷🏼♀️ Watch out for hypotension!

It’s U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week! #AntibioticResistance is one of the most urgent global health threats. Bacteria have a variety of mechanisms to resist antibiotics (see attached), so we need to be judicious with our antibiotic usage.
Medical history fun fact: The word “influenza” comes from the Italian (and Latin) word meaning “influence” because in 15th century Italy a flu epidemic was thought to be due to the influence of the stars.
In July I was shocked when San Diego broke 600 daily COVID cases for the first time.
In November I was shocked when we broke 1,000 daily cases.
In early December I was shocked when we broke 2,000 daily cases.
Yesterday we had 3,252 new cases. Please #StayHome
P.S I’ve seen this series making the rounds on Facebook! It’s awesome to see so many people having fun learning Medicine 😊 But if you do see this I would appreciate if you redirect them to my Twitter or Insta so they can find the original source! Thank you!! ❤️
It’s always a pleasure to illustrate for the @COREIMpodcast, especially when they cover such high-yield topics! Check out their new episode on hyperkalemia 😊
