Van Dijk has been the best CB in the world since 2016/17. His performance against Inter Milan in the Europa League and how much better than everyone else he was on the pitch was the real eye opener for me personally. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Ruben Dias was the best central defender for the time Virgil was injured. He was vastly overrated because Virg had been so good the season before, everyone was desperate to find the next Virg and thus everything Dias did was overhyped.
Except Ruben Dias was the best CB in the Prem from October 2020 to June 2023, winning every trophy with Man City and a POTY. Flawless UCL final performance.
