We now believe Apple will have a hole + pill design on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models. The smaller hole will not be invisible...The two hole concept will be unique to Apple, like the notch, not similar to all the pill models from Huawei...Let's see those new renders
Big Apple display news, they have adopted quantum dots for the first time. The latest MacBook Pro's (M4) use a quantum dot (QD) film rather than a red KSF phosphor film.
In the past, Apple went with the KSF solution due to better efficiency and lack of cadmium (Cd), but the latest Cd-free QD films are very efficient, feature as good or better color gamut and better motion performance.
Based on the technical challenges remaining for under panel cameras to meet discerning brands quality requirements as well as panel manufacturers' cost requirements, I still believe this roadmap makes sense for the iPhone.
iPhone 13 Pro - 6.06"
iPhone 14 Pro - 6.12"
iPhone 13 Pro Max - 6.68"
iPhone 14 Pro Max - 6.69"
Differences due to pill + hole replacing the notch and narrower bezels.
Samsung's Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 phone production for July are more than double what it was for the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3. Pointing to a very strong launch. Might see a price cut.

- Z Fold 3
- Xiaomi Mi 12

OK, tweeted too early. The 27" MiniLED screen is going in an iMac in Q1'22, not an external monitor. May see a monitor later. Still 24Hz - 120Hz variable refresh...Sorry for the confusion!
Finally, S25 colors.

Like DSCC, Mizuho Securities also says no new iPhone SE model in 2021, have to wait till 2022. They do say all iPhone 13 models will have integrated touch, BOE will join LGD on both 6.1" models, mini and 13 will adopt 12 Pro Max camera sensors, & sensor size will increase on Pro.
Hearing that Apple can get 120Hz Pro panels, but not 120Hz driver ICs. So they will either have to come up with a fix which will be difficult, wait for 120Hz driver ICs and delay the launch possibly significantly or launch with 60Hz. We are hearing they will launch with 60Hz.
My Xmas leaks - Galaxy Fold 3 - main display shrinks from 7.59" to 7.55". Cover display goes from 6.23" to 6.21". Need more space for S Pen.
Galaxy Z Flip 3/Flip Lite - grows slightly from 6.67" to 6.70". 120Hz and LTPO on the Z Flip 3.
Still expecting a 27” MiniLED display from Apple in June. Guess it might be a Studio Display Pro…Have confirmed it with multiple companies in their supply chain…
Next SE model is rumored to be called SE+ 5G and will have a 4.7" LCD. Previously said the next SE model, SE3, would either have a 5.7" or a 6.1" display. It is now looking like it will be 5.7". May be launched in 2023 rather than 2024.
Surprised the OLED iPad Pro's are priced as low as they are given the high price of the tandem OLED panels along with a costly M4 chip. Was expecting higher prices.
Fold 2 fans, confirmed with my sources that it will be announced at Unpacked, although may not ship till as late as early October. Assembly starts in September. Also, why are leakers/media saying 7.7". As we said on 4/20, it is 7.59"...No change.
Apple LCD iPhone leak, we now hear the next LCD iPhone SE will remain at 4.7" in 2022. Some rumors that it may have 5G with Sub-6 GHz as well. Also hearing about a 6.1" version in 2023 with punch hole rather than a notch.
With the announcement of iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max having a variable refresh rate up to 120Hz marks 20 models that are current and rumored that use LTPO OLED panels from SDC.
Not to say I told you so, but Samsung changed their S22 and S22+ spec sheets from 10Hz - 120Hz to 48Hz - 120Hz. Companies have shown below 48Hz as demo's, but not a commercial product, so it would have been a first. Thanks @DylanVHuynh for the link!

Panel suppliers are the same between the iPad Pro's and MacBook Pro's - LG Display and Sharp. Expecting similar technology - oxide backplanes, miniLED backlights and 120Hz refresh rates. MiniLEDs, 100% confirmed.
Galaxy Fold 2 Leak cont.
•Notch/Hole/UPC – They wanted to go with an under panel camera, but it isn't ready yet. Will be a punch hole.
•Pen Input: Yes, will have the S-Pen. Fits in with the Note Series and enhances the tablet experience.

S21 Leak, 100%
S21 - Gray, Pink, Violet and White
S21+ - Black and Silver
S21 Ultra - Black, Silver, Violet
Production in Brazil, Indonesia, Korea and Vietnam
Apple leak! The 27" MiniLED monitor has been delayed as it was going to be produced at Quanta in Shanghai which has been locked down. Production is in the process of being moved to a different location and has been delayed. It now looks like an October release.
From DSCC's new monthly OLED smartphone service:
- Google Pixel 8 - 6.16", down from 6.32" on the Pixel 7
- Google Pixel 8 Pro - 6.7", same as Pixel 7 Pro
Both start panel production in May.
S22/+/U phone production from 1st week of December. Colors by model:
S22 - Black, Green, Pink Gold, White
S22+- Black, Green, Pink Gold, White
S22U - Black, Dark Red, Green, White
Today's leak - All 2021 foldables using panels from Samsung Display will be 120Hz and LTPO. This of course covers the 6.70" Z Flip 3, 7.55" Z Fold 3 as well as the 7.57" foldable from Google, 7.11" from Oppo, 8.2" from Vivo and 8.1" from Xiaomi.
Apple 5G SE model starting panel production this month. Phone production likely from March. This means a launch is likely for 2H April/early May with shipments from late April or early May.
So 10-bit color is likely being achieved with 8-bits + 2-bits through dithering as none of the OLED driver IC companies we talked are offering true 10-bits.
Looks like iPhone 14 Max and Pro Max panel shipments are a month behind the 14 and 14 Pro. The panel shipments for the larger models are starting in July vs. June for the smaller models. Not expecting any delays at launch at this point though.
Glad all the 120Hz iPhone drama is over and that my July 1st tweet that it wouldn't happen proved correct. Got so many personal emails from Apple users telling me they wished I was wrong...
Agree about the cover display. But you are primarily paying for the foldable display. Samsung's foldable display is still the best, 50% higher peak brightness than the Magic V, plus S-Pen, under panel camera, etc.
According to DisplayMate, for static test patterns, the iPhone 13 Pro Max has 25% higher display power efficiency than the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Most of the improvement is due to LTPO, reducing the refresh rate down to 10 Hz for static images.
Small correction/update in upcoming S21 models. S21+ and 21 Ultra are basically reversed.
S21 is still Gray, Pink, Violet and White.
S21+ is Black, Silver and Violet with Pink in Korea.
S21 Ultra is Black and Silver.
How strong have Apple iPhone 12 sales been worldwide? Based on panel procurement, the iPhone 12 was the #1 AMOLED smartphone in Q3'20 and Q4'20 and is expected to hold that spot in Q1'21 and Q2'21 as well...
Anyone have an iPhone render with just a single hole punch for the selfie camera which assumes under panel Face ID. Will give you credit. It will appear in an article I am writing covering iPhones through iPhone 19.
if Apple Pro models are 120Hz, then 120Hz volumes will be higher than 90Hz in 2020 for AMOLED smartphones. This chart from DSCC assumes no 120Hz for Pro. If 100% confirmed, will update chart.
Z Flip 5 Colors:
- Beige, Gray, Light Green and Light Pink
Z Fold 5 Colors:
Beige, Black and Light Blue
I am sure they will have some good flashy names when launched along with some bespoke and lower volume colors.
Weighing in on Samsung Unpacked Part 2, we don't think the S21 FE will be announced next week with shipments by the end of October as production doesn't start till December. We are Team January for the S21 FE launch.
1) We now see Oppo and Xiaomi each launching a flagship using a Samsung LTPO panel in 1H'21.
2) Although now there is no Note 21 coming, we may see a Note 20 FE...
3) The lack of a Note 21 series means the S21 series will sell at higher volumes for longer and could outsell S10..
Finally seeing some new colors on the S23 Series, although much lower volume than the main 4 colors. The new colors on the S23 Ultra include Gray, Light Blue, Light Green and Red in addition to Beige, Black, Green and Light Pink.
Guess I called the the pill+hole format (along with Shrimp Apple Pro), the slightly different Pro/Pro Max sizes (you will have to measure), the delay in Plus availability, AOD on Pro models, no high refresh on non-Pro models, larger Apple Watch Ultra display size, etc.
Z Fold 4 and Google foldable will have similar sized foldable displays, but the Google cover display will be quite a bit smaller at 5.8". This should mean it will have a wider aspect ratio than the Samsung 6.19" Fold 4. Hear more at our conference next week.
Second half of 2021 is going to be really exciting for foldable smartphones. At least 3 models from Samsung, 4 models from Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi and 1 model from Google...BTW, no Z Fold Lite - Z Flip Lite. Specs for all are in our latest Foldable Report.
The reason the Pixel 4a can be $349 with an AMOLED is that it is rigid rather than flexible which is less than 1/3 the cost. Smart move by Google, cache of OLED at a much lower price. Apple resisted rigid due to dual source desire and smaller chin...
Note the LTPO iPad Pro's only go down to 10Hz rather than 1Hz on LTPO smartphones which will consume more power. But the battery is much larger and the displays are more efficient with tandem.
Z Flip 3 will actually have 8 colors:
- Beige
- Black
- Dark Blue
- Gray
- Green
- Light Pink
- Light Violet
- White
4 colors will get most of the volume though.
Production starts in early July.
Got hit by a car on my bike today while going 25 mph. Flew like 10-15 feet after impact landing on my elbow and hip which are very sore. Lucky to be alive. Wish I had the video footage, i was flying...
In non-political news, I got more Galaxy S25 colors which are at much lower volumes:
S25 and S25+
Coral Red
Pink Gold
Blue/Black
S25U
Titanium Blue/Black
Titanium Jade Green
Titanium Pink Gold
We now hear the next LCD iPhone will be introduced in 2022 and called the SE Plus with the same 4.7" LCD as the 8 along with 5G. We hear the iPhone SE3 with a 5.7" - 6.1" LCD is now pushed to 2024.
Apple LCD iPhone leak, we now hear the next LCD iPhone SE will remain at 4.7" in 2022. Some rumors that it may have 5G with Sub-6 GHz as well. Also hearing about a 6.1" version in 2023 with punch hole rather than a notch.
New Samsung Galaxy tablets getting closer to production. New LCD Tab A8 to start production in mid-December with OLED S8+ and S8 Ultra in late January.
Since the next Motorola Razr image has leaked, I can say it will have a 6.7" foldable display rather than the 6.2" on the Razr 5G. It will be made by China Star. The cover display will expand from 2.7" to ~3".
