I seem to recall him saying something of the sort upon hitting free agency in that he just wanted to be wanted.
Now he's in Tampa on basically the cheapest qb contract money can buy and has the team moving on to round 2 of the playoffs.
He gets my vote for comeback player of the year.

The masses: Trey Lance was a raw rookie that everyone thought should sit behind a veteran as a rookie and then he played a monsoon game and then broke his ankle in the first quarter of his second game in year 2. Also, it is hard to see him beating out 7th round pick Brock Purdy who played completely ordinary and is now coming off a torn UCL that he did not have Tommy John surgery on.
