This ends up being dangerous advice for beginner DMs. Put the reps in. Learn the rules. When you make mistakes, push forward, but afterwards go back and learn from your mistakes. Once you get a grasp on the rules as they should be. Then you can move on to the exceptions.
Your imagination is not confined to the four corners of a rule book. #dnd #rpg #tabletop

The skill to run zero prep means that when you are at a friend's house, unprepared, they surprise you that they have bought D&D, and they want you to DM. Do you say "oh no I haven't prepared" or do you know how to run D&D? That's all it comes down to.

Dungeons and Dragons is not a spectator sport. Once priority shifts to making the table more spectator friendly, the integrity of the game can easily be compromised.

If I have learned anything from reading weird fantasy, it is that you don't have to explain the reason for why something exists. You just have to explain it as a matter of fact. A sorcerer throws a saddle on a giant moth and flies off? Seems legit and I don't need to know more.

Wotc is missing out by ignoring the Old School. It is entirely possible to have 2 separate D&D lineups selling alongside one another.

WoTC lost sight of what D&D is supposed to be imo. Releases happening are just falling flat and no one cares anymore. People would have killed for some of these books 5-7 years ago. 5e isn't moving the monetary needle anymore, and now the official D&D account is promoting 2e.

Humanocentric D&D is the best D&D. The further you stray from this, the more you cheapen everything else.

We received Castles and Crusades for the highschool games. Troll Lord as a company are very good hearted people. No one else was willing to do what they did, and they do it in private. Not for attention. If any company deserves your support it is Troll Lord.

Replying to @hayasaka_aryan
Hot Take: DnD was never good to begin with. It sucks both gameplay and storytelling wise, and everybody thinks they are the main character. Its pure narcissism turned into a game.

For as much as Tolkien is mentioned in the same breath as D&D... Surprisingly, there is a lack of conversation centered around how exactly to go about executing Tolkien style gaming within D&D.

Conversely, I think a TPK by goblin ambush is a fantastic introduction to D&D.
Replying to @Crossface02
Eh, it's okay, but I would advise some small adjustment for the early stages. I've played it once, and our party got TPK'd by the goblin ambush because of sheer bad luck, which is never a good experience especially when this module is meant to introduce players who are new to 5e.
