Beyoncé gave us a pep rally and a dance recital and a second line and a revival and a homecoming and a block party and an opera and a movie and a play.
The NYPD union claiming Shake Shack poisoned officers before detectives had a chance to discover that no crime happened ought to be enough to get news publications to stop parroting manufactured PBA narratives but we live in a timeline where the dumbest thing always happens, so
disgusting little world we're building. harder and harder to research things, beneficial to make up nonsense, deregulation, oppression, murder, murder, murder
Heard from a lot of white people yesterday who told me that while they support the "cause," they can't wrap their heads around the rioting, and they feel like there's a better way. No one could say what the way was.
Just wanna point out that:
- rioting is what happens when justice drags its feet.
- America is a direct product of violent protest and the calculated destruction of property.
- if you see justice as a treat conferred on model citizens, you support exclusionism, like fascists.
I miss Mac. That's really it. He looked out when no one was really checking for me for profiles and then made time to link just to shoot the shit as we got to know each other, all of this on top of making music that hit a specific emotional spot not every artist hits for me.
If you're a white person hearing about all these gratuitous arrests and sensing things are getting bad, I assure you shit has been this bad forever. The operative differences now are social media and a chain of command that doesn't bother faking grace.
I had a long conversation with the legendary Jon Brion and got the story of how he met Mac Miller and came to produce and ultimately finish the Circles album. vulture.com/2020/01/mac-mill…
I interviewed Mac Miller for the better part of an hour when I profiled him, and over the weekend I realized there's a lot in the transcript that you guys haven't seen. Here's the rest of the convo. Hope it gives you guys some closure. vulture.com/2018/09/mac-mill…
There's this expectation for Nicki to act like a squeaky clean pop star, and she's giving them loud, rude rapper this year, and it's frying folks' senses.
Goldlink used a picture from the last day I ever saw Mac Miller, I think from his last photo shoot in life, to kick up some questionable shit over a year after the kid passed and can't respond, and I can't even wrap my head around the logic that would tell someone to do this.
People being furious at Ebro for telling Kodak Black "We take sexual assault seriously here" is proof there's a lack of guidance out here. People whose job is interviewing musicians are supposed to ask hard questions. But that wasn't a hard question. That was just accountability.
Says a lot about us a nation that a guy can say he went looking for a random innocent "black bastard" to murder as "revenge" for a crime someone else did, and the response is to trot him out on a morning show.
UPDATE: Authorities have seized multiple firearms from the Calabasas home of YouTube Star Jake Paul after the FBI served a search warrant early this morning abc7.com/jake-paul-calabasas…
I wouldn't advise spending any of your day letting people who luxuriated in the death of a Supreme Court justice not two weeks ago flip and give lectures about civil discourse.
the smartest thing he doing is acting like somebody sent the sinister six after him and it's not you know just years of subliminals coming home to roost
This #Kendrick vs #drake isn’t just rap, it’s Palestine vs Israel, it’s the people vs the status quo, it’s culture vs the colonizer, it’s the rebels vs the empire, it’s black vs acting black…
I'm gonna keep it real transparent with y'all. A lot of y'all with the spiciest energy this afternoon did not have the same energy a week ago or a month ago or a year ago when a lot of us were catching hell just for trying to bring awareness to that rapper's story and cases.
