30 years ago⌠we released the album that changed our lives. Happy birthday to August and Everything After. To celebrate, weâll be highlighting each song from the album on our socials. Letâs dig into this music together and reminisce on the memories associated with this record.
22 years ago, I saw an early screening of Cruel Intentions. After seeing the film, I told them âItâs weird but I think I just wrote the perfect song for that scene last night. Itâs called âColorblindâ. We havenât recorded it yet but I can demo tonight to check it out.â
Welp...we were 85% finished recording a new suite of music when the quarantines hit so we had a bit of a delay. Going back in to finish in a couple weeks. Should be done, mixed, & mastered by mid-July.
A long December and thereâs reason to believe
Maybe this year will be better than the last
I canât remember the last thing that you said as you were leavinâ
Now the days go by so fast
The first time I hung out with Jaylen Brown @FCHWPO he was an 18 or 19yr old freshman. My first thought was he should forget wasting time in the NBA and just run for the Senate. But then I remembered Bill Bradley and thought...(shrug) why not just do it all?
I remember marching to a rally in 1984 to hear Geraldine Ferraro speak. Watching @KamalaHarris tonight made me tear up and reminded me how long Iâve waited for a moment like this to come true.
If youâre a man & anything about the world makes u think that women are somehow worth less than u are or or that theyâre there for u to abuse, youâre sad and wrong. Even if 1000s of years of history says youâll get away w/it, youâre still wrong & that time IS coming to an end
So I was working on a cover of one of my favorite songs the other day when I realized one of my best friends had just released the exact same song that day. I almost tossed it but that same friend convinced me I should do it anyway. So here it is, filmed and recorded by our pal Ehud Lazin and mixed by Dave Bryson! Happy Holiday Season from Counting Crows and weâll see you next year.
PS. Check out the version by @gangofyouths too. Itâs seriously beautiful.

Went for a walk in London this morning. Nearly froze my brain right out of my head. Apparently itâs a whole new world out there. Immediately set out for Piccadilly with Z in search of a hatter & bought hats. Jaunty little fucker now, ainât I? Thanks Lock & Co Hatters @lockhatters
Almost 3 decades since our debut album August and Everything After was released. It wasnât the easiest album to record, but cheers to 29 years of our music. Whatâs your favorite song on the record?
Fuck. The world is suddenly a much shittier place without Adam Schlesinger in it. RIP pal. October 31, 1967-April 1, 2020
âWhat else is new?
What can I do?
But sing this valley winter song
I wrote for youâ - Fountains of Wayne 2003
Man, ya gotta love Jaylen Brown @FCHWPO if you're a @Celtics fan. Great player and a great guy. He's having another killer game today vs Toronto. Shout out to @CalMBBall. How good would we be right now...?
Our album filled with our biggest hits is almost 2 decades old! We feel so lucky to have a biggest hits album that includes so much of our bandâs history. Can you choose a favorite?
Daylight fading
Come and waste another year
All the the anger and the eloquence are bleeding into fear
Moonlight creeping around the corners of our lawn
When we see the early signs that daylightâs fading
We leave just before itâs gone
Nothing like waking up with a #1 record!!!
Our first number one in 13 years! Thank you to our team and to every single one of you who has listened to Elevator Boots. Hope to see you all out on the road for The #ButterMiracle Tour.
It was pretty awesome to film and record âAugust and Everything After - Live at Town Hallâ years and years ago. Hard to believe itâs been 11 years since releasing it too.
