Today was the best scrimmage we've had since we got here ... big plays on both sides of the ball. Really happy with what I saw out there!

Signed Nick Aussieker, a prep kicker from Mo., today to add depth to the kicking game. Still working on making the roster deeper for 2010.

First day of practice went well yesterday and the weather was awesome. Back to work Friday at 3 p.m.

Putting the finishing touches on training camp. Players are winding down their conditioning and everyone is excited about starting Monday.

They also have a chance to send the seniors off with a win and send the program into the off season on positive note.

Camp is now over. Still have things to work on, but we are progressing daily and will be ready for Eastern Illinois on Sept. 3.

I think they team did a good job yesterday during its first two-a-day after a very hot practice Sunday on the turf.

We had chances last week against SDSU and need to take advantage of those plays this Saturday at the Fargodome.

The bye week came at a great time ... gave the players a chance to rest a bit and the coaches time to recruit.

Saturday's game will be a big challenge for us. We are going to add crowd noise in practice to simulate some game situations this week.

We just announced today a two-year deal to play Ball State ... home game in 2013 and road game in 2014. Great day for the program.

UNI is a very tough, physical team and we will have to play a near perfect game to beat those guys ... but I think we are capable.

The first-team offense looked sharp last night and the first-team defense made some stops and were flying around the field.

We have a big challenge in front of us this weekend. SDSU is ranked 17 in the country and has very few flaws. But we will be ready!

Austin Peay is similar in a lot of ways to Eastern Illinois. They also appear to be improved from last year's 2-9 team.
