Thank you everyone for the overwhelming support, calls, and messages.
Everyone is asking why?
First, the opportunity to run and continue to build a program at a place where Faith is the center piece and academics is a priority. Having the opportunity to work with awesome administrators and staff at a school where we can have impact was a huge factor.
In coaching, Iโve created 5 star superstars in my journey. I went to see
@jjmccarthy09 and
@gregcrippen at the National Championship Game and was so happy that I had a small part in their lives and the success they are experiencing. I have also enjoyed watching
@iamtylerbooker @TKJaayy and tons of my former players. I reflected that weekend and was missing my kids greatly. Now, it is time to raise my kids to be that superstar. I have lost a lot of time and now itโs time to caught up.
Next, I know I made the right decision when I was sitting with our new players and was listening to their conversations. After talking to the boys and families yesterday, I felt a very strong connection. FAMILY. I ask the players what they needed from me. A Leader, Stability, and an Environment that is Fun. I can provide that and more.
As a kid growing up in WNY, NJ, owning a house down the NJ Shore was a dream. Now my kids live 30 mins away from the school and my mother lives 12 mins away. Iโve missed my family.
I am officially retiring from the chase of college football and etc. Moving every few years, sleeping in my car, working additional hours at a hotel from 11-7am to make the bills.
The current state of college football isnโt good.
It is time to unleash 25 years of great experience and growth at St John Vianney. I look forward to having my kids around our boys and look forward to rekindling my friendships I have with the people in NJ. What an awesome state. You learn to appreciate it. Once you are gone.
Happy and so grateful for this opportunity.
