Todd Beamer grew up in Illinois, attended Wheaton Elementary School and Wheaton Academy High School. He also attended Wheaton College and DePaul University after moving back from California.
He was an avid Chicago Cubs, Bears and Bulls fan.
On September 11, 2001, United Airlines Flight 93 was hijacked by extremists while Beamer was aboard.
Beamer, along with several others, huddled together and went to take the plane back by force, but it crashed in a field in Stonybrook, Pennsylvania.
"Let's roll!" are the last recorded words heard by Beamer, and is now the battle cry for US Armed Forces against extremism during the 'War On Terror'.
Beamer and the others, are hailed as heroes, even though they lost their lives, along with 32 other passengers and seven crew members.

I have a feeling that one of the reasons why you decided to be back in Chicago is for them. Can you talk about that a little bit?
Rose: "Since I retired, I had time to really think about what's the difference between a dad and a father. I always looked at my pops in that father category because he was never around. I really didn't think about it until I had this conversation with my mom a few months ago. She was talking about how she loved when my kids call me daddy. I'm like damn. It made me really think about it and dive into it. With my kids I have to give them my all right now."
Rose: "Like how your pops did for your family. I feel like that's how I met you. I use to ask you so many questions about how your upbringing was. What y'all really do, bro? Just like all the bullsh**, you know what Im saying? You were huge for my development as a young dad, even though you didn't know that. You and your father, your family just seeing how close y'all are and seeing how y'all relationship is evolving now. I love Chi. I love the good, the bad, the ugly the fight the challenge of being from here. Going through tough love, having to stabalize yourself through that tough love and surviving. But there's beauty in everything. 🌹
