Been a privilege to have called all 17 seasons of Nationals baseball on the radio. Great to see a packed park this final weekend of '21. Missed seeing so many of you ardent and loyal fans in person the last two seasons. Hoping that is very different in '22!

Heavy heart today with this sad news from Brenda Medhurst this morning. Hard to have met a nicer soul in this world than Pete. RIP my friend. “Last night we had to say Goodbye to Pete Medhurst. Pete fought a very hard battle against an aggressive melanoma cancer. He spent his final hours surrounded by the kids and I and he felt so much love. We are heartbroken and devastated. Thank you so much to everyone for their many months of thoughts and prayers for Pete and our family. We are very blessed to have such amazing family and friends. For those who are not connected through Facebook, here is Saturday’s update on @PeteMedhurst from his wife Brenda. “Pete Medhurst and I would like to thank the amazing staff at AAMC for the incredible care they provided. Dr Kuo, his neurosurgeon and his team along with all of the other doctors, nurses and staff were incredible and made our stay there as comfortable as possible. After 11 days, Pete was transferred last night to a rehab center and will work on getting himself stronger and ready for radiation and immunotherapy. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers and messages. I have read all of them to Pete and we appreciate them so much. Please continue your prayers and good thoughts. We love you all.”

Here is the latest update from Brenda on our friend, @PeteMedhurst. Keep fighting, Pete! “Pete Medhurst ended up having to leave rehab to go back in the hospital Saturday night, He had a procedure yesterday and is having another one today. He has also developed an infection and pneumonia that they are treating. Please continue to pray and send positive thoughts. I have read him all of your messages and we really appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers. Unfortunately he won’t be able to have any visitors for a while but we look forward to seeing everyone soon.”

With what we have seen in the post season with short starts and bullpen games, just rewatched Stephen Strasburg pitch into the 9th inning of WS Game 6 last October. His stuff, his performance was incredible!

Today’s update on @PeteMedhurst from his wife Brenda. “Thank you so much to everyone for all of their support and prayers. Pete is doing well and we are getting out of the ICU a day earlier than they thought he would and moving upstairs to a regular room. He is mostly sleeping. We are very thankful for our Navy family who sent this picture to let us know they are thinking of him. Today ends Pete’s 240 game streak but we know Joe and Keith will crush it. Thank you everyone again. Go Navy!”

No respect for these guys on the Hub in Boston. As poor as taste can get. No class whatsoever. A husband, a father is lost. Not time to judge. Hope their PD has the guts to take them off the air, what a poor stab to get ratings.

He will have 4 more rounds of radiation and then head to rehab to begin his physical therapy. At this time he is still in the hospital. We appreciate everyone’s prayers and good thoughts. We are overwhelmed with everyone’s support and generosity and very grateful we have such an amazing group of family and friends. At this time he is still unable to have visitors but we hope to see everyone soon. Thank you and we love you all.

He is mostly resting due to all of the medications he is on. We thank everyone for the outpouring of love and prayers and we appreciate them so much. We are not able to have visitors at this time and hope to see everyone soon. Thank you so much!”

RIP Bob Uecker. Uek will be so sorely missed. Every time you saw him was memorable, a story and laughs every time.

In my 11 years calling Bullets games, Wes was a broadcaster, coach and GM...a HOFer, a legend! Many road trips, he would bring home educational items “...for the school, for the kids.” The Unseld School was always he and Connie’s greatest legacy. The greatest Bullet, RIP.
