When you have to persuade other walkers that no, your dog hasn’t collapsed, he’s just really cheeky and has discovered that lying on the floor is a really good way to make you carry him instead of him having to walk. Thanks Simon.

Our biggest worry when we adopted Niamh as an ‘older dog’ (7+) from @DogsTrust 12 years ago was that we wouldn’t have long with her. Today, aged 19, we had to say goodbye to her, and it still wasn’t long enough. She went from living in a shed to being a brave little adventurer ❤️

She is glorious and making progress, one day at a time. Our Emmie (from Bosnia) was in some ways quite different as she was hyperactive rather than reserved, but equally very anxious about many things and she still isn’t a fan of the world beyond our fields, but she’s happy!

Husband just called me downstairs sounding all worried. Apparently one of our dogs won’t eat his dinner. I’d be more worried about this if I had not, y’know, fed all the dogs an hour previously. Top marks to them for play-acting ‘starving unfed dogs’ so successfully. Again.

Today I milked a yak, drank traditional ‘vodka’ made from fermented mare’s milk, rode for hours and read the brilliant ‘The Humans’ by @matthaig1 in a part of Mongolia that is inaccessible by car. Thoroughly recommend the yak milking, book, riding and Mongolia; less so the vodka.

In 2010 we adopted Dog No 2 as an ‘older dog - 7+’ from @DogsTrust @DT_Harefield. We thought that at least we could give her a few years of a happy life. 9 years later and she’s still loving every minute. This weekend she’s on a camping and canoeing trip in Wales.

This judgement by senior coroner Heidi Connor - based on a finding of facts in the death of #ruthperry - unequivocally links her deteriorating state of mind and death to the Ofsted inspection which was at times rude & intimidating, lacked fairness, respect and sensitivity
