The senseless deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and many others point to the harsh reality of systemic racism. Over the last two weeks, we’ve opened doors to new and honest conversations both inside and outside of our company to help shape our plan of action.
ALT We are looking at how we operate as a company, who we hire, who we partner with and how we can use our influence to be a force for good in the communities where we live and serve, including advocating for policies that support social justice.
Racism is also a public health issue, one that directly contributes to health inequity within Black communities. We will prioritize the needs of Black communities in our work to address health disparities and social determinants of health and support those working to create meaningful change.
As we reflect on what it takes to make real and sustained progress, we will keep listening, learning and most importantly – doing more in three key areas:
ALT Colleagues: We will ensure that Black and Brown colleagues have fair access to opportunities for advancement and development at all levels, including senior level positions.
ALT Communities: We will prioritize the needs of Black and Brown communities in our work to address health disparities and social determinants of health. We will support partners working to create meaningful change and dedicate ourselves to programs that get to the root causes of widespread racial inequalities in the communities where we live and serve.
ALT Public policy: We will use our voice to drive change on key legislation that addresses discrimination and racial injustice.
