With summer just beginning, we’re already seeing an uptick in juvenile-related criminal activity—and we want to be clear: there will be zero tolerance for violence or illegal behavior that threatens the safety and quality of life in our city. This past weekend, our officers conducted a coordinated Center City Weekend High-Visibility Enforcement Operation that concentrated on preventing juvenile-related violence, reducing nightlife disorder, maintaining safe traffic flow and ensuring compliance with vendor and alcohol regulations in high-activity areas. This two-night Uptown-focused initiative produced significant enforcement outcomes: ✅ 27 arrests - 23 of which were juveniles ✅ 13 parents cited for Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor ✅ 2 illegal firearms seized ✅ 6 traffic stops ✅ 11 parking citations ✅ 2 vehicles towed ✅ 2 ABC violations cited Charges included: Assault on a Government Official, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Driving While Intoxicated, Resist, Obstruct, Delay, Trespass, Affray, Reckless Driving, Disorderly Conduct, Curfew violations and more. Officers also encountered a large‑scale juvenile gathering of more than 200 teens at Romare Bearden Park and quickly deployed additional resources to maintain order, disperse the crowd and ensure a safe environment for park visitors, businesses and residents. Juveniles, think twice before doing something that could ruin more than just your summer. And parents, YOU could also be charged if your child is out committing crimes, so we urge you to know where your kids are, who they’re with and what they’re doing. We’re committed to using proactive strategies and increased enforcement throughout the summer to prevent unlawful behavior from disrupting our community. Everyone deserves a safe and enjoyable summer, and we will continue working to protect it.
