The bear is a gift from Jim Herren '58 of Glassport, PA, who played football at Butler before going on to play for the University of Nebraska at Omaha & later the New York Jets.

Junetta Everett is the first person of color to serve as the Board Chair for the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce. She was one of the first African American dental hygienists in Kansas. Everett is a Butler alum who was selected as the 2021 Distinguished Alumna last year.
