Basketball is PERFECT for November. Lot of jumping/stability. Can still lift in season at lighter weight/ higher reps focusing on movement/ tempo. Reality is select coaches are salesmen. They don’t do this for free so sometimes what is best for the athlete is trumped for $$$

Most HS/college guys can really create some force and some can move down the rubber, but majority can’t stop it.
Free Test - Simple Snapdown to 360 jump. I’m 35 and can do it on command. Easy landing.
I have yet to see HS/ college kid with arm pain land one clean…

Great stuff Mark. @ZachDechant is the best. This is the missing element in baseball right now. Workload to high early and not prepping to handle late part of the season (The baseball that matters) - It’s a problem in Illinois with the “remote training” before HS season.

Kids don’t know much. They aren’t suppose to. They learn from what they see and hear around them. Adults have caused this problem. Most my coaching is strictly teaching kids what it means to compete & what adveristy really is....

Kids look to not play because of the BS travel model. Amazing how guys can complain that families lives don’t revolve around youth baseball. If you have 9 you’re good. Travel ball has never been about team. The whole travel model is to prove yourself individually.

Bowman had some great games early in the season, but the hype needs to slow down. Iowa st humbled us a bit about him. The OU game a lot of those 1st half points came defensively. Tech has a QB coming in that most thought would be the future in Mclvor.

Disturbing trend I see in Illinois is the glorification of velo jumps early. Plyos way to early. Chasing when hit with any adversity. When I see a 15-16 year old kid jump 9 mphs in 1 winter…. And the “program” advertising like they have magic pill… it makes me 🤢

You don’t sign on the dotted line for 4 years... Every scholarship is renewed after the year. So the coach has the right to not honor it or reduce it. Example Shadell Millinghaus. Happens to guys all the time in every sport. So enough of that garbage.

💯 It’s crazy how many 16/17 year olds come to me with arm/shoulder problems doing a “throw program” and NEVER had their movement assessed. “Gurus” messing with the arm without assessing the movement are stealing money and hurting guys.
