the time has finally hit me that my high school career is over. I want to thank everyone that has been in my corner during this last 4 years, my family, the coaches, the fans and the haters have made me who I am and I am forever grateful. 1️⃣ out
I am blessed to announce that after a great visit with Coach Hiebert, I have received an official offer to play basketball at Hesston College 🏀 @HesstonMBB
Congrats to Coach Garv’s #DeeUp belt winner Blake Chadwick! Proud of how this kid has progressed on the defensive end over the past year! His quickness guarding the ball and jumping passes is something else.
I just said something about Carmelo Anthony’s son but I called him “Melo” and this boy Gavin had the audacity to say “Lamelo Ball doesn’t have a son” what has this generation come to 🤦🏽♂️ Carmelo Anthony is MELO i don’t care ‼️‼️
6. NOBODY likes the “when I played” coach.
“If I was out there…”
Stop.
The kids don’t care.
They don’t need your highlight tape — they need your help TODAY.
Coach them, not your memory of you.
2. COMFORT IS OVERRATED
If you can, avoid coaching at the school you played at.
It’s just a different dynamic — and not always a helpful one.
Be uncomfortable as a GA.
Be uncomfortable in your first real assistant job.
Growth lives there.
so i am in the car with my mom today and i say “i respect females” she fake yells and i ask why, she says “did you say you spank females ??”
i was in shock lol idk why my mom thinks i am a bad kid
🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
1. GET IN WHERE YOU FIT IN
When you’re new, your #1 job is to figure out where you add value.
Once you find it — lock in and excel at it.
Don’t try to do everything.
Do your thing at a high level.
🚨 TICKET PUNCHED 🚨
The Spires of St. Mary (KS) have won the KCAC Tournament and punched their ticket to the NAIA MBB National Championships!
@USM_basketball
i’ve had chills for 5 minutes straight y’all, this right here should hit everyone deep. “don’t ask if your dreams are crazy, ask if they’re crazy enough” ‼️💯
When your little brothers team is up by 40 and the opposing teams assistant coaches son scores for the first time and he yells “these boys aren’t even that good” ... not a good look
5. BE ELITE AT BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS
Not just with your players.
Weight room coaches.
Academic staff.
Volleyball, soccer, baseball — everyone.
Relationships open doors.
You’re never too busy to be kind.
10. Last one, and maybe the most important: COACH AAU.
You want to be a head coach?
Start coaching like one.
Coach 13-year-olds. Coach 17-year-olds.
Good kids. Tough kids. Unreliable kids.
Figure out who YOU are.
You’ll miss a lot.
You’ll learn even more.
aye i just wanna give one of the greatest coaches i’ve ever had a quick s/o, i’m definitely gonna miss not having our courtside talks and little inside jokes this season 💯
4. Absorb EVERYTHING.
Every practice. Every meeting. Every conversation.
Write it down. Save what you like.
Toss what you don’t.
If you want to be a head coach one day — you better be a lifelong learner.
3. Understand this early .. YOU HAVE A VOICE
Yes — listen, learn, watch… but don’t sit back forever.
You bring value.
Share your ideas. Speak up. Be confident.
@BlakeChadwick04 I am very proud of you and I love how your skills have improved over time. You are an excellent team leader and I am excited to see what kind of coach you will become. I hope one day we will be able to coach together. I love you, sir. Your dad.
9. s/o to @CoachR_Allen “Don’t be afraid of Confrontation, the best coaches are confrontaional”
Not in a disrespectful way — but in an honest way.
Great teams don’t avoid the hard stuff.
They run toward it.
Hold players accountable.
Hold yourself accountable.
⚡️Floor General⚡️
17U, ‘24 Jack Ulwelling. 5’10 G solid ball handler, that creates open shots and finishes in the paint. Ulwelling has a nice 1-2 dribble pull up, is a vocal leader, and make clutch free throws down the stretch.

During an emotional evening of testimony at the @DerbySchoolsKS board meeting, Sharilyn Ray’s quote will resonate well beyond the building and beyond.

Never easy playing for a parent, and it’s even harder playing for an older brother. Doesn’t matter, the kid just works ‼️‼️
Shooter, defender, willing passer, playmaker
The Lady Panthers started the season outside the top 10 rankings. Derby ended the season as the fourth-best team in Class 6A.

7. USE SOCIAL MEDIA AS A TOOL, NOT A TOY
Follow coaches who post great content.
Connect with your league.
Study others in your division.
It’s not just networking — it’s scouting and learning.
