1 - Make women feel comfortable and seen at the events you go to now (when I'm out of Florida, I'm ignored at most meetups unless the person knows me or my "value")
1.1 - An easy way to change that: greet women when they arrive, then introduce them to someone else or a group. Once they’re in a conversation (and not being talked over or ignored), move on and keep doing the same for others.
1.2 - Remember their name. Before you leave, connect on LinkedIn/Twitter and personally invite them to your next event.
1.3 - Now follow up! Hey, great to meet you at [dev meetup] heres the link to [next meetup] - great chatting!
1.4 - Support them as you would any other dev
Make woman feel comfortable and welcome is what it comes down to.
When I run women-only events I see women I've never seen at any events in my dev community because there’s no doubt they’ll be welcomed and valued without having to prove themselves first.
Lets make that the standard.
