If you are sitting at home waiting for a program to contact you first, you probably aren’t going to get that call/text/email. You should be actively involved in your recruiting process by reaching out to programs you are interested in.

I’m so happy that my son, who is playing college baseball, was grounded enough to take advantage of opportunities. So many guys will be sitting out who are D1 or bust. Be open minded enough to play where the opportunity arises. The only person you will disappoint is you if not.

Athletes, if coaches are not reaching out to you, you need to take the first step. Asking coaches to contact you is not the way to go about trying to get recruited. If you haven’t sent emails and videos, they certainly aren’t going to cold contact you.

Thank you for posting this. I have told many of the guys that reach out to me that coaches want guys that are involved in the process and not sitting back and waiting to be discovered. This is great advice for young players.

Parents, it’s ok to hold your phone up to the fence so the camera is focused through one of the holes rather than film from two feet back and getting nothing but fence. In 6 years of filming I never had a ball hit the fence and my phone.

I have seen it elsewhere and said it before, it bears repeating…choosing a school to play baseball at is a 40 year decision not a 4 year one. Find a school that offers a degree you are interested in. Baseball ends for everyone.

Athletes, all the video is great, but coaches need to be able to see who they are watching. Whoever takes your video needs to get a good shot close up. Coaches are looking at your mechanics than where the ball is hit. Pitchers, video from behind the plate is better.

Please don’t gripe about the recruiting process if you are out there “big timing” the guys who are offering. I am willing to provide your video and data to coaches, you have to realize when the offer is right.

For parents taking video, like has been mentioned before, coaches are looking at mechanics, not where the ball goes. If your son is a right handed hitter, take video from the opposite side so coaches can see the swing. Opposite for lefties. I
