In Colorado, we refuse to stand idly by as the President pursues a self-made recession while making the cost of everything – from groceries to cars, to medicine - more expensive for Coloradans. This July, I took executive action to identify where and how we can protect Colorado from the devastating impacts of tariffs and the ensuing trade wars.
Today, I released the Office of State Planning and Budgeting’s report on the impacts of tariffs on Colorado consumers, businesses, and our economy.
Today, Coloradans are paying seven times more in tariff taxes than they did one year ago, with effective tariff rates skyrocketing from 3% last year to 21% today.
The last time Americans faced such high tariffs was over a century ago, in 1910, when the Model T was around, and now we’re getting
@Waymo in Denver.
Tariffs are a self-inflicted wound on our economy, making everyday items and doing business more expensive, stifling growth, and driving up inflation.
From groceries to housing to health care, Coloradans are paying the price for the President’s reckless trade war. Tariffs simply DO NOT WORK.
