12 years ago today, I wrapped 600 teddy bears as gifts to the 4-year-olds in our project evaluating the impact of early childhood interventions on south-side Chicago kids. It took no time at all ;) These kids are teens now!

Problem with saying no is that these students then are stuck. Most of them are in 100+ person courses and do not know professors well. Masters are becoming more and more mainstream so if they cannot get at least 3 letters they cannot apply.

I was fully prepared to be ostracised when I started my petition against EJMR but in fact I continue to be invited to give talks etc. Some reassuring news for others who may speak out! And sign of EJMR influence on the decline.
It speaks to the enormous influence and sway that EJMR has on the economics profession that people are very reluctant to speak to reporters.
All the women who spoke to Bloomberg despite all this abuse are courageous heroes in my opinion.

A key aspect to reducing reach of EJMR is to stop funding it! Helpful thread below.
EJMR is funded by advertising. Some of these are Google ads but there is one permanent ad placed by econ-jobs.com. That ad highlights featured jobs. So you can see here that effectively ANU and the UK Treasury Dept are advertising on EJMR.

One aspect of EJMR that is harmful is that the most egregious content is deleted, but not before it is viewed by many. Such content - often defamatory - can be recovered and people should be held accountable for posting it. Defamation is not free speech.
