The @SLCCouncil has voted in favor of Smith Entertainment Group's (@UtahJazz, @UtahHockeyClub) plan to remodel Delta Center and develop the area around the arena into a mixed-use district. It has also approved a .5% sales tax to provide $900M toward the project.
As Ryan Smith recently told @SBJ, the sooner-than-expected arrival of the @NHL in Utah served as a catalyst for swift movement on this project. A big part of the arena renovations will be aimed at adapting the seating bowl for hockey while maintaining optimal basktball sightlines.
