Rafael Gary of Pittsburgh Pleaded Guilty to a Charge of Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition. Responding to a traffic violation a @PghPolice officer developed evidence that Gary concealed illegal material inside his vehicle and got a search warrant for the vehicle, which revealed a handgun, evidence of marijuana trafficking and a cellular telephone. ATF Special Agents obtained a search warrant for the cellular telephone, which revealed that Gary had purchased the handgun through the female associate who was the registered owner. This week, ATF arrested a suspect in Arizona who admitted he was attempting to traffic several firearms and more than 10,000 rounds of ammunition into Mexico. Agents arrested a suspect in Wisconsin who admitted to trafficking firearms to a foreign terrorist organization, another in Ohio who trafficked firearms to Canada and located and arrested a suspect wanted for murder in Tennessee. ATF and partners in New York arrested seven members of a violent gang tied to multiple shootings and arrested 16 gang members in Connecticut who were connected to more than 90 shootings. ATF K-9 teams and Special Agents worked with partners to ensure a safe #FIFAWorldCup. And, in partnership with NSSF, launched a #DontLieForTheOtherGuy campaign in San Diego. Across the country, ATF remains committed to reducing violent crime, stopping illegal gun trafficking, and supporting our law enforcement partners to keep communities safe. More at atf.gov. #WeAreATF

According to the indictment they conspired to take United States currency that belonged to a skill-game operator company. ATF’s firearms tracing and international coordination efforts with @INTERPOL_HQ led to the identification, seizure, and recovery on June 17 of 44 U.S.-sourced firearms trafficked to Africa. The firearms were originally seized by local authorities after being flagged by INTERPOL as trafficked or smuggled. ATF then traced the firearms and worked with the @FBI to return them to the United States. The return of these firearms will assist ATF in eight different ongoing trafficking investigations. ATF is proposing to clarify protections for the interstate transportation of firearms by lawful owners. The update would formally recognize that routine travel activities, such as overnight stops, refueling, vehicle maintenance, emergency stops, and medical needs, are part of lawful “transport” under the Firearms Owners’ Protection Act. Elizabeth Resident Pleads Guilty and is Sentenced to 90 Months in Prison for Possession of a Firearm Dontae Gilbert pled guilty to the charge of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and was sentenced to a total of 90 months of incarceration. He was one of two men who fired a gun at a residence in Homestead. Gilbert used a stolen pistol to shoot at the home, then attempted to flee the scene by car with his co-defendant. Law enforcement was able to stop the vehicle and found Gilbert in the driver’s seat with the pistol under his seat.
