Today is a great day as I have added another year on the cards.
I thank the Almighty God for taking me this far and all of you for always being with me throughout my academic and political journey.
Fellow Malawians,
Today I had the honour of attending the SADC Extraordinary Summit Meeting for Heads of State and Government which was held virtually.
Today I had the pleasure of meeting the World Bank Vice President for Eastern and Southern Africa, Dr. Ndiame Diop, and his team, where we discussed a number of issues concerning our economy.
Honoured to decorate Lt. Gen. George Jaffu as a four-star General and Chief of our Defence Forces. I expect him to exemplify discipline, protect the people, and uphold our constitution. Congratulations.
Yesterday, I hosted Scotland's First Minister John Swinney. Reaffirmed our nations' strong bond. Malawi is open for business, investment, and meaningful collaboration. Our message to the world: come engage, invest, and grow with Malawi. 🇲🇼🤝🏴
My fellow Malawians,
I declared State of Disaster following heavy rains and floods in the country. I urge each one of us to support in whatever way our fellow citizens who have been affected by these floods. Let us also pray for the departed souls. As Malawians we stand together!
Gertrude and I send our best wishes to King Charles III on his Coronation day. May his reign bring prosperity, peace, and unity to the people of the United Kingdom. #LongLiveTheKing#KingCharlesIII
I presided over the swearing in of 2nd VP Enock Chihana & Ministers George Partridge & Roza Mbilizi. Public office is a responsibility. Serve Malawi with integrity, humility & hard work. We must deliver results to improve lives. 🇲🇼
I have chosen Honourable Everton Chimulirenji to be my Runningmate towards the 2019 Elections. I have chosen a member of my Cabinet, a man of integrity, maturity, and a long serving dedicated member of the Party.
Though I may not be able to respond to each message individually, please know that I am incredibly thankful for your thoughtfulness and the time you took out to make my birthday so memorable. Thank you and may God bless you all.
I commend Muslims for engaging in principles and values of love, giving to the poor, forgiveness and peace-making throughout the time of fasting and prayer. These are principles and values that bind a nation and supports development. Glorious Eid Al-Fitr!
At the Mulhako wa Alhomwe annual Festival, I announced we've delivered on two promises: procured 200,000 tonnes of maize to fight hunger and made public secondary school free starting next term. I ask for your support and patience as we work to fix the nation's deep challenges.
Malawi is not a poor country. We are a rich country with many poor people. Malawi has everything that we need to take our people from poverty to prosperity. #MGDS3
Fellow Malawians,
Be proud of what you have achieved for the 2019 elections. For the first time, we the people of Malawi will fund the entire election budget from our own coffers, without donor support. This is a... facebook.com/APMutharika/pos…
Today, I presided over the Commissioning of the Malawi Defence Force Warships in Mangochi District. These vessels will help the MDF keep the waters of Lake Malawi safe and will go a long way in strengthening and developing our Maritime Force.

Let me thank the First Responders such as DODMA and other non-governmental organisations, the local communities, that rushed to the rescue of the victims. Let me also extend my gratitude to foreign governments and organisations that have committed resources towards the same.

There came a point when corruption was becoming a culture in Malawi. When you fight a culture, it is your own people that you fight. And it takes a process to reverse a culture.
Nearly half the population of Scotland can tell you about a personal friend, or family member, with a connection to Malawi. This is what it means to have a people-to-people partnership.
The First Lady and I have safely landed in New York for the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
I am looking forward to a productive working period while here.
Our government is committed to supporting cultural practices because they contribute to the development of the country. Let me urge all Malawians to be promoting dynamic cultural practices which are relevant to enhancement of patriotism, hard work and integrity.
One of the problems we have in this country is that most people think farming is not for educated people. We think farming is for those who cannot get jobs in the office. This is a completely wrong mindset.
I have arrived at the UN Headquarters for the Nelson Mandela Peace summit.
The summit is discussing the role of peace in global development as well as commemorating Nelson Mandela's 100 years birthday .
Today, over 95% of my people aged 16 and above have national identity cards. And we are in the process of integrating the National ID to be used in education, finance, agriculture, security, social welfare and other public services. #UNGA#UN4All
The ultimate goal of university education is not to earn a degree. The ultimate goal of university education is to attain the wisdom of life; a fine mind; and the ability to find solutions to questions that matter in your personal life and your society.

If you start thinking differently, you will be a different person. In this world, you are the only person you can change. Start thinking positively, and you will begin to achieve positive results.
Government must work on the restoration of electricity and make temporary measures. It is pathetic how authorities are running state affairs without ideas, which is very unfortunate.

Our goal is to have smaller Government and a bigger private sector. We believe this is the way the region must go. Malawi is doing everything possible to become a dependable partner and team player in the region. And we are making progress.
Blaming others and playing the victim mentality will never take us anywhere as a country. The only way to change our country is for us to think differently. This is the only factor that distinguishes countries.
Congratulations to The Scorchers on their 2-0 victory against Angola, qualifying for the 2026 WAFCON! You have made Malawi incredibly proud. #GoScorchers 🇲🇼
We need to create a mechanism for encouraging us all to increase our national budgets on the Youth bracket. Let us refocus our economic planning on the Youth. #COMESASummit2018
This is a painful day for us as a nation. Today, we lost heroes of peace for Africa. This is a painful loss for us as a country.

Congratulations, daughter of the land, @tabitha_tc11, on your Ballon d'Or nomination. ⚽🎊
The Former First Lady and I join all Malawians in wishing you the very best.
May you bring it home and continue to inspire the daughters and sons of this land.
On October 31, 2025, during the opening of the 52nd Session of Parliament, I informed the nation that my Administration would reintroduce the Farm Input Subsidy Program (FISP) for this farming season, with a planned launch in the second week of November 2025.

On 21 May, we all must vote - peacefully and wisely. Vote for a progressive party that has amended the constitution and reviewed laws to defend the rights of girls and women. Vote DPP - leaving no one behind!

I want Malawi to be a country with a network of tarmac roads everywhere; no dusty roads in our cities; a country with electricity in our villages; and no more grass-thatched houses.
In 2014, your votes put DPP back in government... and made this and other achievements possible. Your vote on 21 May is all it takes to move Malawi forward. Vote for transformative development, not cheap politics. Vote DPP. #DPPDelivers
We see a problem. Instead of stepping out to look for a solution, we want to find someone to blame. We enjoy complaining more than creating solutions. And we often like to play the victim.
I have, this evening, led delegates at the DPP convention in electing new leaders of our beloved party. These are men and women of valour who will lead our party to great heights and be instrumental in leading Malawians to a #ReturnToProvenLeadership

LUANAR is recognised by RUFORUM as the centre of excellence in aquaculture in the whole of Africa. It is a mark of national pride that the whole Africa should come to Malawi to learn how to raise fish. You have proven that we can make Malawi the light of Africa.

There are people whose job is discouraging Malawians who want to work for their lives and for this nation. This must stop because we are destroying our own country.
21 May is one day in five years that we cannot afford to sit out. Let us go out in our numbers and vote peacefully and wisely. Vote DPP for progress and for continued development.

Our first stepping stone towards making Malawi a producing and exporting country is agriculture. Our first and most urgent priority is to improve our agriculture, water development and climate change management.
Those of you who think corruption is for politicians and government officials are only living in denial, and living a lie. The fight against corruption demands our collective acceptance, and our collective fight.
Where everybody sees gaps in the economy, I see investment opportunities. Where you see a poor Malawi, I see a rich country only with people in poverty.

The first mission of my generation was to liberate this country from colonial oppression. That was fulfilled with independence. Our 2nd mission was to liberate this country from one party dictatorship & its oppressors. That was fulfilled with the coming of multi-party democracy.
