One year at Aztec 🥳 Some lessons from inside 1. This team is the real deal: Aztec has attracted many of the top 100x engineers, cryptographers, relationship builders, and marketers 😜 in the industry. But above that, from @Zac_Aztec @jaosef and @arnaudschenk down, the people here are relentlessly curious, passionate, and dedicated to bringing something new to life without cutting corners. 2. Slow is fast: Aztec has sometimes taken flack for taking a long time to build, but the reality is that this team is moving at lightspeed behind the scenes. We could have decided to offer fully programmable, end-to-end privacy with a centralized sequencer/council...but we didn't. Doing this in a decentralized way is insanely ambitious. Inventing the cryptography to enable <10 second client side proofs is insanely ambitious. And when mainnet drops it's going to be one of a kind. 3. Marketing is not an add-on: @clairekart has built a powerful marketing machine that is deeply embedded across departments. We're a group of senior marketers that are not afraid to get our hands dirty, with deep ownership of our lanes. This is the most streamlined marketing org I've been part of. We're about to turn it up to 11, and you better be wearing your earplugs. 4. People don't understand privacy: those who get it, get it - privacy is necessary to make this industry a success. But many people don't care about privacy itself. Case in point: most people allow Instagram to record them 24/7 on their phone or are fine with twitter seeing all their DMs, or their bank seeing and controlling all their finances. But when people realize that a world is possible where you can have control over your identity, assets, messages, etc and you can do this privately, for may they will quickly get Aztec pilled 😁 5. We're building an exceptionally technical product marketing team: Product marketing is all about translating our products to users, understanding who cares about our products (and why), and engaging these people. Our tech is our magic sauce, so both @jschxyz and I need a deep understanding. This is definitely pushing the boundaries of what marketers need to know technically, but we're leaning into it. 6. Vibe coding is here: Marketers have often been dependent on eng teams or contractors to build things. Not anymore. We're still figuring out how vibe coding on the marketing side fits into the overall org - and there are certainly some growing pains, but many experiments are in the pipeline that we're excited to share with all of you. 6. gAztec. You would be shocked by how many very successful people in this industry started out as community managers. I've always been aware of this bc my first role in 2017 was doing community. People who enter through community roles are great because they tend to: - hustle *really* hard - are extremely good at riding out the ups and downs - have a deep connection to what's actually happening on the ground so they know the market *really* well - love meeting all sorts of people, and in this industry you never know who will be a great connection - are extreme believers in what they are doing and trustworthy af - are extremely ambitious and have an insatiable appetite for learning Mostly, they tend to be some of the only down to earth people in this industry. And every moon mission needs someone on Earth in the control center.

I was out touching grass for one week, and of course @realRoberto38 had to go and throw a 2,000+ person party in our discord without me. The only good news is that we're doing it again this week.

Tweet likes are becoming dark and mysterious.

Of course twitter likes and comments have to break as Aztec hits 14k nodes on testnet. If I don't see 1k likes and 500 comments I know why.

Over 23k validators have migrated to the latest testnet. And most importantly, slashing is working as expected, allowing sequencers to kick out malicious or underperforming operators. Let's go!

Vibe coding is a requirement for every role I hire. 3 things every product marketer should be using Claude Code for 👇 1. Vibe code w your products - you're not expected to be an engineer, but you're expected to build with our products. This is the fastest way to understand their value & limitations, and write about features. It's also the best way to align with builders in the ecosystem and speak their language. 2. Vibe code landing sites - marketers love landing pages, but HubSpot splash pages are just not going to cut it anymore. You should be creating mini sites and apps that give a targeted experience to users. Again, you don't need to be a fullstack dev, but you have one at your fingertips. 3. Vibe code funnel engagement - marketing is going to change dramatically over the coming years. Product marketers should be building mini experiments on how you can engage users and move them through a funnel. What are the sticking points for your users? Can you quickly build them something to address their concerns? You should be. We'll be seeing more and more vibe marketers as our tools get better - if you're not using them, you're leaving a lot on the table.

This team has been grinding and working magic behind the scenes. Using passports and IDs to prove humanity without ever sharing any of your actual details is very hard to get right, and there are infinite moving targets. One of the biggest challenges is sourcing certificate info for different countries - and to make it even harder, it turns out countries like to change how they encrypt passport chips, so different passport years need different solutions. @ZKPassport has made impressive strides, and optimized the proof generation so even extremely old phones can participate. Dropping a quick tutorial for operators to join the validator set. TLDR: - Aztec is fully decentralized, operators should be able to join in a permissionless way - For testnets, there is nothing at stake for bad actors to lose - So, we are using ZKPassport to verify you are a passport or ID holder to join the set, allowing anyone to join without sharing personal info - Once you pass ZKPassport, you can register for the validator queue, currently 1/epoch (75/day) but this will increase substantially to speed up the queue - This rate allows good actors in the set to slash any incoming malicious or inactive actors - Once registered, you can view your place in line and track all your node performance on the Dashtec leaderboard - Don't forget to claim your Explorer role once you register to unlock a dedicated section of the Aztec discord

This is actually insane @payy_link re-wrote their entire zk stack in Noir. Codebase went from thousands of lines of code to ~250. Proving speed went from 3 seconds to < 0.5. Time to MVP took 30 minutes rather than 3 weeks with Halo2. Now payy go brrrrrrrr
