Open nitter.app/<username> — for example nitter.app/elonmusk — to read a public X profile without logging in. No sign-up, no app. Popular profiles load instantly from cache; a profile nobody has viewed recently is fetched after a quick automatic browser check.
Since 2023 X has walled off most of its content: search requires login, timelines redirect to a sign-up prompt, and the logged-out view of a profile shows only a small, unordered sample of old posts. None of that means public posts stopped being public — it means you need a different door. These are the doors that still work in 2026.
A viewer site fetches the public data and renders it as a normal web page. On nitter.app you simply put the username in the URL:

What to expect, honestly: recently viewed profiles are cached and load instantly for
everyone. A profile nobody has viewed lately triggers one fresh fetch, preceded by an
invisible browser check (that check is what keeps scraper bots from draining the service —
a normal browser passes it without clicking anything). Single posts also work:
paste any x.com/<user>/status/<id> URL and swap the domain for
nitter.app.
A link straight to one post (x.com/user/status/123…) usually renders for
logged-out visitors, because X keeps permalinks readable for embeds and previews. What you
cannot do from there is browse: replies are collapsed behind a login prompt and the author's
timeline link bounces you to sign-up. Use it when someone sends you one link; use a viewer
when you want the surrounding context.
Google and Bing index a meaningful slice of X. Two operators do most of the work:

X removed RSS years ago, but converters rebuild it. Our free one is rss.gurify.com — paste a username, get a feed URL for any RSS reader. Good for quietly following a handful of accounts without visiting anything.
If you only care about new posts from specific accounts, skip browsing entirely: X Alerts emails you when a followed account posts. That is a paid feature ($5/month, up to 10 accounts) — listed here because "check someone's page every day" is usually the problem people are actually solving.
Private (protected) accounts are visible only to approved followers — no viewer, search engine, or archive shows them, and any site claiming otherwise is a scam. Logged-out access also can't like, reply, follow, or DM.
Yes. Public posts are published content, like any web page. Viewing them logged-out breaks no law; some methods may be against X's terms for the tool operator, but the reader is simply reading a public page.

Cached profiles are served instantly. A cold profile has to be fetched from X live, which takes a few seconds and is preceded by an automatic bot check so scrapers can't drain the fetch budget.
No, and nothing can. Protected posts are only delivered to approved followers. Sites that promise private-profile access are phishing.
Pages are cached server-side so the next visitor gets them instantly, but there is no account, no tracking wall, and nothing tied to your identity.
