Black women's unemployment is skyrocketing — and the Trump Administration's reckless economic policies have only made it worse. We deserve policies that lower costs and create opportunities for all, not just the wealthy few.19thnews.org/2026/01/black-w…

From cutting staff to stripping the board of the ability to make decisions, the Trump Admin’s attacks on the NLRB have led to more dismissals of unfair labor practices, leaving workers without recourse.  And who benefits? Trump’s wealthy cronies. theguardian.com/us-news/2026…

The ability of kids to learn and grow is hindered when private equity controls and consolidates youth sports and drives up costs. We need antitrust enforcement and cost transparency.

The American healthcare system is broken. As Ranking Member of @EdWorkforceDems Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Subcommittee, I outlined the acute crisis that American families are facing and the ways Republican policies, including the Big Ugly Bill, have exacerbated the existing problem and are pricing Americans out of their health insurance. I urged my colleagues across the aisle to work with @HouseDemocrats in taking bold action to lower costs for the American people and put them over billionaires and big corporations.

Trump’s latest court loss confirms what we’ve said all along: President Trump’s politicization of the Public Student Loan Forgiveness program is a partisan, illegal attack on borrowers and the communities that benefit from their public service. Period.  apnews.com/article/public-se…

One year ago, Republicans passed the largest cuts to Medicaid in history and refused to extend enhanced ACA premium tax credits. Today, Democrats are fighting to undo the damage of the “Big Ugly Bill” and advance bold ideas to lower health care costs. 🔗 piped.video/live/V7rKw491XX4…

Republicans play stupid games, but then are shocked when they win stupid prizes. At today's hearing, @RepSummerLee condemns how unregulated private equity has priced families out of opportunities to participate in youth sports.

All kids should be able to enjoy the benefits of youth sports. But underinvestment in public facilities and the rise of private equity have made youth sports unaffordable. We are fighting to ensure youth sports aren't just limited to the wealthy few. 🔗piped.video/watch?v=VGu4VKjp…

Last month, Committee Democrats called on the Department of Education to use common sense to hold schools accountable for their students' success. Instead, the Department just issued a final rule to make it easier for predatory, for-profit schools to defraud students.

Three years ago today, the Supreme Court decided in SFFA v. Harvard and UNC to limit the consideration of race in college admissions programs. Systemic inequities in education require systemic solutions to ensure equal access, which SFFA fails to acknowledge.

In the midst of Republicans’ attacks on affordable health care and the cost-of-living crisis, every wrongful claim denial hurts working people. We are calling for stronger oversight to rein in health insurers’ wrongful claim denials.  washingtonpost.com/wellness/…

In the wealthiest nation in the world, no one should have to choose between food and health care. Thanks to Republicans, it’s now a choice that millions are being forced to make.

USDA is planning to "reorganize" the Department and limit access to school meals, and Republicans are refusing to hold them accountable. We have had enough. Today, all Committee Democrats sent a letter to the Majority demanding they hold a hearing and answer our questions.

It was an honor to welcome & introduce International @steelworkers President Roxanne Brown on Capitol Hill. As the first woman and first person of color to lead USW, President Brown is standing up for workers & strengthening our labor movement. I'm proud to join her in that fight.
