50 years ago today, @TheBeatles' last recorded album and our studios’ namesake #AbbeyRoad was released. Considered by many to be the pinnacle of the band’s achievements, EMI Studios later changed its name to reflect this seminal moment in our history.
55 years ago today, @TheBeatles began recording 'Tomorrow Never Knows', the first song to be recorded for their album, ‘Revolver’. On that day, they recorded just three takes of the rhythm track, under the working title ‘Mark I’, along with one of @JohnLennon’s vocal takes.

On this day in 1970, @TheBeatles' ‘Let It Be’ was released. Over the course of 16 months beginning in early 1969, an ambitious project that was titled ‘Get Back’, transformed into ‘Let It Be’, a mixture of live and studio cuts finally issued a month after the band had broken up.
On the 30th January 1969, @TheBeatles took to the roof of the Apple Corps headquarters in London. This was their first live performance in over two years and would ultimately be their last together.

55 years ago today, @PinkFloyd & @TheBeatles met in the control room of Studio Two. At the time, The Beatles were recording ‘Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band’ in the studio and Pink Floyd had just finished recording ‘Piper at the Gates of Dawn’.
On this day in 1962, @TheBeatles stepped into Abbey Road for the first time and auditioned in Studio Two for the late Sir George Martin and Parlophone Records. The session was the only EMI recording to feature Pete Best on drums, who was then replaced by @RingoStarrMusic.

Today marks the 70th anniversary of the vinyl LP format. The format revolutionised the consumption of music and has been part of Abbey Road expertise since. The late Hazel Yarwood, renowned as the doyenne of disc cutting, can be seen here in one of Abbey Road’s cutting rooms.
