If you're currently unable to claim your Midnight Glacier Drop through VESPR: Midnight has paused redemptions on their end. We’ll share an update if anything changes. Stay tuned 👀
🚨 Glacier Drop Redemptions Temporarily Suspended Following reports of a security incident affecting a subset of Cardano wallets associated with @secondfiapp, we have made the decision to temporarily suspend Glacier Drop redemptions as a precautionary measure to help protect our community. While the issue does not relate to @midnightntwrk infrastructure, products, or services, some members of our community may use affected wallets or services.  We recognize this decision will impact users who are not affected by the underlying incident, however we believe temporarily pausing all redemptions until further safeguards are implemented is the best way to protect our community at this time. We are actively monitoring the situation and will restore Glacier Drop redemptions as soon as it is appropriate to do so. If you use SecondFi, we encourage you to review official guidance from the SecondFi team and take any recommended steps to secure your assets. The safety and security of our community remain our highest priority. Please remain vigilant: 👉 Midnight will never contact you privately to request sensitive information, ask for wallet access, or instruct you to transfer funds. 👉 Never share your seed phrase, recovery phrase, or private keys. 👉 Be wary of unsolicited messages, support offers, or suspicious links. 👉 Verify information through official channels before taking action. We will share more updates as they become available. midnight.network/blog/glacie…

Genuine question for the timeline: When you pick a wallet, what matters more: how many chains it supports, or how well it supports the chains you actually use? We made a deliberate bet on the second one. Curious where the room lands.
7% More chains supported
62% Better UX per chain
24% Honestly both, equally
7% Other (reply)

A decision most users never think about: how we built VESPR for iOS and Android. We chose Flutter: one codebase for multi-platform high-performance apps. That means faster updates, a consistent experience everywhere, and more time spent on features instead of platform-specific maintenance. ⚡ Sometimes the most important features are the engineering decisions you never see. 👀

⚙️ A quick update on token and market data. While reviewing the changes after the TapTools shutdown, we noticed market data was refreshing only once every 3 hours. We've fixed that: data now updates every few minutes. No update needed, the fix is already live for everyone using VESPR.
Some VESPR users may have experienced issues over the last few hours. The issue was caused by our dependency on TapTools, which paused operations and affected some of the data feeds used by VESPR. Core functionality has already been restored, and all TapTools dependencies have now been replaced. Everything is back to normal, and our team will continue monitoring the situation closely over the coming hours. No action is required from users. We'd also like to take a moment to acknowledge the TapTools team. We're genuinely sorry to see the project sunset. They have been a great partner to work with, and their contribution to the Cardano ecosystem is difficult to overstate. Many teams, including ours, have benefited from the infrastructure and insights they provided over the years. It's a real loss for the ecosystem, and we wish the entire TapTools team the very best in whatever comes next. 💙 Thank you for your patience and understanding.

On Cardano, native assets are supported directly by the ledger rather than being implemented as token smart contracts. Most chains work differently. Here's how. 🧵

5/ For users, that means no ERC-20-style approval transactions, no token-specific transfer logic, and a consistent way to send ADA and native assets. It's one of the design choices that makes Cardano's asset model different from many other ecosystems.

4/ Because transfers are handled by the protocol, there's no token transfer contract that can be exploited, paused, or behave unexpectedly. The rules for moving native assets come from the ledger, not custom token code. That doesn't mean there are no smart contracts on Cardano. Minting policies define how assets are created, and DeFi applications still rely on Plutus scripts. But once a native asset exists, ownership and transfers are enforced by the ledger.

3/ On Cardano, native asset transfers don't execute a token smart contract. The ledger itself tracks ownership and validates transfers, using the same underlying transaction model that moves ADA.

2/ On many chains, sending a token means executing the token's smart contract. That contract defines how transfers work. If the contract is poorly written, upgradeable, or includes admin controls, those behaviours become part of the token.

Few teams have @FluidTokens' track record on Cardano. Bifrost is the kind of initiative that moves the whole ecosystem forward, unlocking Bitcoin liquidity for Cardano DeFi. We're proud to support it.
