Some of you already know that 2 massive earthquakes, measuring 7.5 and 7.2, struck Venezuela about a week ago, causing one of the worst natural disasters in the country's history. More than 50,000 people are still missing, over 3,000 have been confirmed dead, and with so much time already passed, those numbers will likely continue to rise. Those who survived lost everything. Many lost their families along with their homes. I know this ecosystem has always been incredibly generous. Even though several days have passed, this tragedy is far from over. The recovery will take years, especially after decades of political destruction that left the country with very little capacity to respond.
