Our journey as black dancers wouldn’t be what it is if skin color were irrelevant. It wouldn’t have taken til 2019 for Charlotte to be the first. Until u’ve fought our fight and walked in our shoes, it’s disrespectful and devastating to hear a flippant comment like this.
You will never get it. Our message isn’t for you. Go to the ballet and enjoy who you like. Support your president and be happy. We are striving for equality. Life is amazing. Do you. ❤️ nitter.app/tinkerb70930162/status…
My heart and soul are so full ❤️This is just the beginning. We need to keep this engagement growing, beyond me. My dedication, to bringing more deversity to the ballet world, will never end.
😱😱😱 My 8 year old self could have never imagined that my idol and mentor would ever even know I existed. Let alone acknowledge me in this beautiful way. For my true and genuine respect for her songwriting and vocal talent. ❤️❤️😍😍
Dear Misty, thank you so much for acknowledging the lyrics and the songs that I've written throughout the years for those of us who needed to hear them to feel encouraged, myself included. Your achievements are so incredibly inspiring to me and millions around the world...

Misty Copeland is one of the most important images of the woman power today. At this moment thousands of young girls are watching her dacing and thinking they can be awesome too. Thanks for that @mistyonpointe
I am planning to return to my work schedule starting Monday, and to dance, something that has always offered me a beautiful escape, joy, healing and solace. Please know that I appreciate each and every one of you. Love, Misty
I’m biracial. And I’m black. Was born biracial and will forever be seen as black. Never have i changed my reality or stance. Never will. I’m sorry you feel offended. But I’ve been a supporter and attendee of @BGR for years.
So you're black only when it's convenient to you, like being on black girls rock and even considering yourself a black ballerina. If both your parents are biracial being half black that doesn't directly make you biracial having two biracial parents who are a black descent. Mixed?
I’m so excited to see a copy of Black Ballerinas: My Journey to Our Legacy for the first time! @simonkids Pre order a copy today with the link in my bio!
It’s not about who can afford what. It’s representation. It’s about young black girls seeing a black woman with a beauty brand or on the cover of a magazine, and knowing they’re like them and beautiful too. They can be anything, any color and succeed. nitter.app/ajv_011/status/1001225…
Unfortunately, my Fall Season with @abtofficial has been eclipsed by a family tragedy that brought me to the West Coast. I’m sorry to those who came to see me dance this week. I appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers as we begin to move forward as a family.
The incredible Clifford, @cliffordnewyork showing me how to properly dance Dwight Rhoden’s choreography ❤️❤️❤️ As you can see I’m a second behind him. Lol. Get it boy! @TheDangelo

So where do you suggest this convo happen? When posts of dancers in blackface are posted to social media? In times of crisis were told it’s not the time or place to have a dialogue. In the ballet world people are uncomfortable so we can’t address it...
The WILL to pursue a career in classical ballet at 13 has been the most rewarding journey. It’s hard work and takes dedication, but I love it! Who inspires you? Share your stories of WILL in the comments! #WillMakesUsFamily#WeWill@underarmour
Never have ignored my privilege. These are clearly YOUR issues... I’m fully aware of the nuances of race, racism and colorism. That doesn’t take away the fact that we all experience racism no matter the shade or percentage of black we are. Therefore in my eyes we are all black!
You continue to shatter boundaries and amaze us with your unparalleled talent and I'm so honored to have been even a small part of your journey. ❤️❤️❤️
P.S. Lambs, go see @thenutcracker if you haven't already!
I mean... 🙌🏾 @mariahcarey meant more to me as a young biracial girl than I will ever truly be able to articulate. I discovered her at 8 years old when her debut album was released. Her… instagram.com/p/BrJZdBojtty/…

It’s important to me that the world see’s the very real resistance dancers of color experience in ballet. It’s not always been a convo the dance world is comfortable having, nor have black and brown dancers ever had a big enough platform to be heard.
I wrote Firebird to encourage kids of all backgrounds to pursue their dreams. Libraries help young people find books and media they can relate to—and that inspire them to be the best they can be! ala.org/nlw#NationalLibraryWeek
My book I’m being interviewed for is called Black Ballerinas! And a lot of people do come to see me dance because I’m a Black artist and it is incredibly important to talk about it.
Why does she needs to speaks constantly about her skin color!! I mean come on , people who come to see her dance come because she is an artist not cause she is a black dancer’ SMH
I identify as black. That’s who decides that I’m black. Me! When I leave my house everyday, I am black. I’m not asked what percentage of black I am by discrimination. That’s how my mother raised me.
