I checked in on this thought recently, and I'm feeling more optimistic. Thinking on the incredible effort that went into removing the home button for the iPhone X. FaceID and the gesture UI, as separate projects, must've been massive and were executed so well.

friday iOS 14 beta mini review: widgets make your home screen look nicer (I have weather in the top right corner), I've hid all other app pages (yay!), App Library is A+, `go` button on search results is nice, messages updates are great. beta itself is very stable.

#1 pet-peeve source of jank in apps is latency + >1 loading screens at startup. Slowness cause so much fatigue. Make speed a point of pride.
