In the heart of Leith on Constitution Street, lies the former St John's East Parish Church. Built in 1773, the striking building started as a chapel of ease, to handle overflow from the main parish. After being re-built in 1843 by David Rhind, the congregation left in 1954 and the church was later renovated and converted into offices. Now in 2026, the building is used a social work centre and known as St John's House.

After remarkable success at the RHS Flower Show, Drakkar's Drift Garden has been formally opened in its permanent home in Victoria Park. Designed by Leith resident Luke Coleman, the garden was inspired by Scotland’s historic links with Scandinavia, the restorative benefits of nature and sustainable design principles. 🌱 A successful community campaign saw the garden brought home to Edinburgh, where the original design has since been adapted and expanded to transform a former bowling green in Victoria Park into a vibrant, accessible community space. 🌷

As legend has it, Bobby the Skye Terrier touched the hearts of Edinburgh residents with his unwavering loyalty, refusing to leave his owner's grave for fourteen years until his own passing in 1872. 🐾 A new headstone unveiled by the Duke of Gloucester in 1981 now lies within Greyfriars Kirkyard, with Bobby's statue just outside the cemetery at the corner of George IV Bridge. Although it is widely believed that rubbing his nose brings good fortune, this has led to Bobby's nose wearing away over time. Do your bit to preserve the statue, look but don't touch.

Just a short walk from the bustling city centre, you'll find a completely different side of Edinburgh. Dean Village traces its origins to the Water of Leith Village, a milling community founded in the 12th century, a key part of Edinburgh’s industrial past. The village has since transformed from a bustling milling centre into a tranquil residential community and much-loved beauty spot along the Water of Leith. 📍 Dean Village 📷IG/seanfrankey
